A year or two ago, Tyus Jones and Monte Morris were widely considered the two best backup point guards in the league. In back to back years they got opportunities to start with the Washington Wizards and were below average in that role. Now Morris has been set back by injuries but Jones has not.
Looking at Phoenix’s roster, one of the biggest challenges last year was not having a true playmaker on the roster. In that regard, both Jones and Morris represent big upgrades.
Historically, when you have a big 3 style roster you are able to get away with above average backups playing starter minutes elsewhere. The PHX roster is built around Durant being a top 5 player, Booker at top 10 player and Beal a top 25 player. While defense is still a concern, if those guys are playing up to their potential there is enough depth here
Jones and Morris at the point
Allen and O’Neale for wing depth
Nurkic and Plummer are serviceable centers
I also think Ryan Dunn will get rotation minutes.
You might still have questions about the Suns Big 3. I do as well. But under the circumstances they had a very good offseason.

I would be shocked if they didn't have to promise Tyus a starting spot to get him to sign a vet min.
