I actually like this trade for the Magic because i also value chemistry a lot for success. This is like the Germany version of the Nova Knicks.

So maybe if not Cole Anthony which I think can be better suited as a SG, maybe an Anthony Black or Jett Howard package would do?

Orlando just drafted Black #6 last year and he has shown elite level defense. they arent moving off him for Schroder.

I might be wrong but I feel like if our front office decides to move off of Anthony it's because they've decided Black is ready to be the primary backup at PG. In that scenario I don't think they'd be interested in a guard like Schroder.

If this is the cost of getting an expiring for Cole I think it is alright. Dennis seems to wear out his welcome everywhere he goes.

What about something like this:

Dennis Shroder, 2025 1st (Worst of MIL/NYK/OKC)

For

Cole Anthony, Jett Howard

The Nets pair assistant coach Juwan Howard with his son.

i really do not see magic wanting any part of this ..the pick is awful and would be 3rd first for magic in 2025 with no room for 3 rookies..why would they give jett for that? i dont think schroder fits magic lockeroom and cole for sure does with slight bump cole is better then schroder..i really do not see magic just trying to get out of 1 yr of cole contract as others are stating and this trade seems like only reason to do it

I understand that.

After watching some Summer League and G League highlights I’m not sure I even want Jett Howard on the Nets.

I’m leaning towards keeping the pick + cap space and just moving Shroder for 2nds at the deadline.

Do you think Jett has another DNP CD year with all the depth Orlando has?

i guess who would want 6'6 sg that made almost 4 3s a game on 38% and almost 20 pts a game at 20 yrs old ..he was real solid in summer league i think 50% from 3.. yea he will get some dnp cd this yr its defense why that will happen he will have to show coach he can play that side also magic are deep this yr...also why they do not really need a late first next summer

Brooklyn already has Cam Thomas locked in at SG and I would want more size, athleticism and defense at the SF position than Jett can provide.

After watching Schroeder on the Raptors last year, and seeing him traded at the deadline for a guy who was cut within 24 hours, I don't get valuing him over Cole Anthony. Schroeder is a good player, arguably top 150. But he wants to start, and wants to contend, yet he's not good enough to do both: he's not good enough to be the starting PG on a playoff team. His frustration with this reality has contributed to him changing teams frequently.

I've got Anthony and Schroeder as roughly similar in on-court impact -- good backups, overtaxed as a starter on a decent team -- so the trade would need to make sense for fit reasons. Considering fit, Orlando would say no, even if the SRPs were dropped.

[quote="Skybox"]I don't see ORL adding picks for a similar, even smaller, much older player...although the Team Germany chemistry is interesting.

Schroeder is one of those guys that goes from negative value to overrated every other year.

How true.

Schroeder won the gold with Germany at the 2023 FIBA. The next season he went from TOR's attempt to pivot from FVV to salary dump in 50 games.

If Germany makes the podium in Paris, he might repeat the undervalued-overvalued-undervalued round trip again this summer!
