SA/GS/DEN: Murray to SA, GS rebuilds, Curry to Denver

Post#1 » by Asianiac_24 » Wed Aug 7, 2024 7:40 pm

Scenario: Golden State is still not a competitive team and Steph Curry wants out. San Antonio is in the playoff race and wants a second option for VW.

SA in: Jamal Murray
SA out: Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, 1 FRP, 1 FRP swap

Why: Setup a 1-2 punch with Murray/VW.

GS in: Peyton Watson, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, 5 FRPs, 5 FRP swaps
GS out: Stephen Curry

Why: GS is no longer contending and it is time to sell. The 5 FRP and 5 swaps is a haul even for someone like Steph Curry.

Den in: Stephen Curry
Den out: Peyton Watson, Jamal Murray, 4 FRPs, 4 FRP swaps

Curry/Jokic duo, enough said.

Just to make a legal trade, Denver has to trade MPJ as well..

And Denver can only trade 1 first.

OP needs some adjusting.

Why wouldn't the Spurs just take Curry for themselves in this scenario? Denver also has no tradeable first round picks (not one) and can only trade a swap in 2031.

SA is not the kind of organisation that overpays like this for Murray.

The value is way off but at the end of the day, this just seems like DEN is trading their Murray problem to SA to be Wemby's problem moving forward.

yeah this is impossible for Denver. They could send literally everything they have outside of Jokic, and it's not netting them Steph. This is where sending a 1st to salary dump JaMychal Green hurts you

Jamal Murray doesn't have anywhere near this value, in fact if he's expecting a max contract, I'd say he might not be too far into positive territory.

36 and a half year old Curry doesn't have the value he once did (this is prime superstar package), and the Nuggets can't even pay that.

So this deal massively overrates non Spurs, and massively underrates Spurs. As per usual, your typical Real GM post.

DEN picks are like 2nd rds. Warriors don't need SG

Murray may not be same player without Jokic

That's way too much for Curry.
