There are these things called free throws that offensive possessions sometimes end with. They figure into PPG, and a player is logically going to get more of them if he's an on-ball guard who gets more time on the ball. Brunson scored 16 PPG on roughly 15 opportunities in his final season in Dallas, and 24 on about 22.5 opportunities in his first season with the Knicks. His true shooting rose from 58.3% to 59.7%. Significant but nowhere near the boost you're claiming.
For that matter, 24 points on 17 shots (70.6% TS) would have been otherworldly efficient and would rank as one of the most efficient high-volume seasons for a guard of all time or possibly THE most efficient. If any non-center has breached 70% on high volume, it was a very long time ago. No player at any position has done it in the last decade (I stopped at the 2013-2014 season). Only Durant has come close during that period.That's why I explained why Randle would be so helpful. Replacing Ivey and Stewart with a guy like Randle who can score, rebound, pass well would be a good thing. He's got versatility that many players on the Pistons lack.
