Lakers are projected to have the 18th pick this coming year. Does it matter if it is 18 or 22? Plus those second round picks this coming year might net a diamond.

Lakers would still get outbid. They simply don't have the assets to make a winning offer. Reaves and 2 picks that are five years out don't land you a guy like Trae if he hits the open market.

If we're being honest, I don't think Trae's value is nearly as high as this board think it is. Smaller guards that don't defend and aren't elite shooters aren't exactly super valuable commodities.

Detroit is obviously a minor player in this, but I think they'd take it.

Minor nit: Pistons would need to send out a min-salary player because Vincent makes $11.0M while Detroit is down to $10.2M in cap space.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

We're talking about one of the best offensive players in the game here; if guys like Gobert and Bridges are returning 4+ first round picks I don't think 2 and a nice role player is going to get it done.

A team like Orlando for example, that has all their picks and some decent young prospects in Black/Howard could easily beat this without touching any of their core guys.

I agree. In vacuum LA has to offer every good option they have.

Calling Trae Young one of the best offensive players in the game seems generous but I digress. And Gobert and Bridges to do something that Trae Young simply can't even fathom. Playing defense. I don't think he's going to come cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but the notion that he's going to get 3+ FRPs with high upside plus more seems farfetched to me.

The Spurs were probably the one team that made sense for a potential Trae deal where the Hawks would get their picks back. Otherwise I just don't see it especially to the Lakers when the Hawks own the LA '25 unprotected FRP. If they deal Trae they would be looking for rebuilding pieces such as prospects/picks that the Lakers just don't have.

Trae probably has more value to the Hawks than he would for any other team. He sells tickets/jerseys. The league wide value for the small guard archetype is probably a little depressed as most teams prefer 2 way guys that won't get played off the floor or targeted in the playoffs. Even with that said I don't believe the Lakers have near enough assets to acquire Trae.
