MIDDLETON - GRANT - LEVERT

Post#1 » by Syko_boB » Sun Aug 18, 2024 2:22 am

trail blazers

Jerami Grant for Caris LeVert & Pat Connaughton

• get out of the deal they never should've offered, and see what they got on deck ahead of a big draft - tank!

cavaliers

Caris LeVert & Georges Niang for Khris Middleton

• best player & fit for what they'd like to ship out - 2 more years on Middleton

Garland-Mitchell-Middleton-Mobley-Allen

bucks

Khris Middleton & Pat Connaughton for Jerami Grant & Georges Niang

• bring in Dame's boy & switch up their tempo - 4 more years on Grant's deal aligns with their stars

Pass for POR. Neither player is interesting except as fillers.

Looking for picks.

I'd kick the tires on that for Cleveland, but it would also reinforce the need for a legitimate backup PG.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I like the idea of moving Middleton for Grant. Portland shaves years and the Bucks get a younger and at this point the slightly better player in Grant. If I’m Portland I probably cut the Cavs out and bet on being able to trade Middleton closer to the deadline for an asset.

I think Portland would just take Middleton and try to flip him for draft capital closer to the deadline. No need for the Cavs imo.

Are we really more likely to get something for Middleton than Grant?

Middleton is old and hurt frequently.

Likely to get stuck with him.

He’s a fine player, far from what POR needs.

I've thought LeVert and Okoro for Middleton has made sense for Milwaukee and Cleveland, but can't happen this off-season because of apron rules with S&Ts. But maybe Portland subs in Thybulle and takes Okoro for a guy closer to their timeline?

This sucks for portland... looking for draft picks

No reason to be a charity... call goodwill maybe they have forwards who shoot 40+ from 3

In this cap raising environment i dont mind sitting on grant till a real offer comes along

I think they are probably about equivalent. Think it’s easier to move Middleton at the deadline because of the shorter deal but it’s a marginal difference in value imo. From the blazers perspective, I’d make the move simply because I’d rather have the money off of the books in two years rather than four if I can’t move either player for a decent piece.

Grant isn’t exactly an iron man. Over the last three seasons Middleton has played 10 less games than Grant and played in 55 to Grants 54 games last season.

I understand the argument but moving Grant for even older player with chronic injury issues isn’t a deal worth making. Not that I would expect any incentive. I think KM is better player when he is healthy but that health is unreliable.

Grants teams were tanking, so though he was "injured", it was more DNP front office decision

He's been very prone to tankingitis the last couple years. It's a very serious problem for blazer players of late.

I’d do this trade for Grant or Middleton for the Cavs
