Good call, and for those like me that wasn't sure what Exhibit 9 was.

Nice end of the bench signing for a roster that lacks front court depth. Obviously, if Morris is playing extended playoff minutes it’s a problem. But similar to Shamet, if you need him for 2 weeks in January hes serviceable

I believe the Knicks already had 14 players under contract before giving Shamet and Morris Exhibit 9 deals so unless a trade happens before the start of the season one or both won't be on the opening day roster. They may also want to keep a roster spot open in case they want to use the taxpayer MLE.

I read that only 3 players offered Exhibit 9 contracts last summer made the opening day roster although one of them happened to be Ryan Arcidiacono for the Knicks. Shamet and Morris may be added depth or they may just be extra bodies for training camp.

Welcome back Marcus! Your first go-round with the Knicks was super successful. Not only did he do well in a Knicks jersey, he was traded for what ended up being Immanuel Quickley and Deuce McBride along with a 2nd round pick used to clear out the salaries of Alec Burks/Nerlens Noel so we could sign Jalen Brunson. WOW!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Morris end up making the roster. NY is pretty short on front court depth and (like others have said) Morris is a serviceable regular season minutes eater.

Question, the Knicks currently have 14 players under contract for the 15 man roster not including Shamet and Morris on Exhibit 9 deals. Can they keep the 15th roster spot open for a player that could get waived at a later date and use the taxpayer MLE to sign that player?

They have the taxpayer MLE which they still haven't used yet. I was wondering if it could be just used to give a player that may become available more than the minimum during the season. In that case they may want to keep that 15th slot open. Obviously a consolidation trade could change things.
