Bulls Trade: N. Vucevic, L.Ball

Warriors Trade: A. Wiggins, GP2, K. Looney

Why for Chicago:
The Bulls clean up their rotation and ensure more usage for Giddey, Lavine to revamp his value, and Coby White. Looney makes more sense as a rugged big here and is not tied up long term. Wiggins can fit in immediately as their combo forward with Patrick Williams.
Payton can fall back in the rotation allowing Ayo to be that 3rd guard. If needed, GP does give the Bulls a little defensive perimeter intensity they lost by losing Caruos.

Why for Warriors:
Golden Staten needs somewhat of a risk like this. If they want to get closer to contention with this group they'll need a bit more offensive fire power and some form of spacing at the 5. Vooch is also an underrated passer in the front court and can be enhanced with Golden State. Finally, the Warriors could use more guard depth and Ball is def a risky flyer, but could emerge for their second unit. If he doesn't, he's a nice fat expiring contract.

Vuc just isn't good. And Ball is less likely to be healthy and effective than Payton. Both guys make much more sense on a rebuilding Chicago team.

I'm generally OK with the idea of trading Wiggins for Vuc - I don't love it, but I could be talked into it. But Ball is clear negative value to a team that's fighting to stay under the hard cap/tax line. $20M for zero production is a tough pill to swallow even if he is expiring.

Just keep it simple - Vuc for Wiggins straight up. Enough delta between the two to get GSW out of the tax this year, which is probably enough of an incentive to push this from a "maybe" to a "yes" for me.

People really need to get past the notion that Vucevic is a good player just because he has good raw stats, he was an all-star long ago, and the Bulls made an overly expensive trade to acquire him. He's inefficient, can't shoot threes, can't defend, and is good for nothing beyond scoring in the vicinity of the basket, rebounding, and some minor interior playmaking. He'll be 34 on opening night, and it's unlikely he'll do anything but continue to decline.

Ball is nearly $20m of dead probable salary. The chances that he'll return to full strength at the NBA level are extremely low.

Looney alone is worth more to the Warriors than Vucevic would be. Wiggins at least has the potential to return to his previous level of effectiveness with the Warriors. Vucevic is washed up and Lonzo is probably done. Bad trade for the Warriors.

The Bulls free up nothing. Right now they figure to start a healthy Giddey, and White at guard, Lavine and Williams at forward so they get Wiggins as their 2nd highest paid player who is no kid or part of the future. He figures to start, where are you starting him, the PF where they Bulls just resigned Patrick William to a 5 year contract? He's not starting over Lavine or White. So your 2nd highest paid player for a couple of years is coming off the bench? And likely unhappy about it.

Jalen Smith and Looney are capable NBA players but aren't strong enough 2 way players to help a team with no real superstars in the lineup. Plus, if either gets injured, Nobody behind them

For better or worse, I think Wiggins is the best player in this deal. Beyond that, the Warriors then send two useful depth pieces for a guy who can't play. I'm not opposed to trading Wiggins for a risk of improving overall, and I wouldn't mind another big, but this isn't it.
