CHA/LAC
Cody Martin for PJ Tucker, LAC 2031 2nd
Charlotte eats $3M for a distant 2nd. Either PJ Tucker is waived, or kept until the deadline and then traded/bought out then. Martin is at best a fringe rotation player who barely plays because of his knee and is made completely redundant by Green, and Tucker is completely washed, so no real loss or gain basketball-wise.
LAC ducks the luxury tax, swapping useless expiring for a cheaper useless expiring. Martin has the added benefit of an extra nonguaranteed year on his contract, in case the Clippers want to aggregate his salary next summer.

Re: CHA/LAC
Clippers should be all over this depending on Martin's medicals.

I don't know that the medicals even matter that much. This should happen if they aren't looking to swap him for a rotation piece. Great trade!

This one makes sense for both teams, a rarity

Re: CHA/LAC
I would think that the Hornets would need more value.
Clippers are getting off REALLY easy here.
Getting a rotation player and ducking the tax are huge value.
At minimum, Charlotte should be getting 2 seconds.
If Hornets would prefer Thybulle-> Portland would take Tucker for the draft picks

I assume that LA is holding off in case they can aggregate Tucker with Powell for a long term keeper, but yeah, this is a solid deal that solves problems for LA. And Martin would be able to be aggregated before the deadline if moved now.

Great idea, as a Hornets fan Thybulle would fit nicely actually.

I would love to get PDX into this mix if we could get 2 SRP back.

Not a bad deal. I still can't believe we ditched Monk and kept Cody Martin.
Maybe Mann can step up as a 6th man but he's no Malik Monk.
Funny our board crapped all over Monk and glorified Cody Martin.
If Cody Martin uses his playmaking, the ball movement on the second unit can be pretty good with Micic and Mann. He should be slashing, never shooting. He seems dumb though, and somewhat selfish. He could be a really solid defender if healthy.
I'm curious to see what value he can return at the deadline if he:
1) Stays healthy
2) Simplifies his role to playmaking/slashing
3) Plays to his potential on defense
Pick 6 Salaun looks to be challenging for rotation minutes out of the gate, and there's no Hornet I'd rather subtract more than Cody Martin.
Honorable mention NicRic.
But I anticipate very little plugging any of these names into the trade machine this season.
Offers for Micic could be interesting at the deadline as well. Hornets are pretty well stocked with picks as well. If competitive we can make a smart buy or upgrade.
It has been written...

so many "should"s and "if"s... in reality he does zero of these things

Works for me, I'd even chip in the other 2nd since LAC only has the 2031. I'd give the DEN/PHI 2nd we just got in the KAT trade

Clips do have 2 seconds available.
