Knicks/Jazz/Pelicans Three-Team Trade

Post#1 » by Moose » Sun Sep 29, 2024 4:05 pm

Who says no? (Works in modern CBA trade checker):

Knicks Receive:

Walker Kessler
Brice Sensabaugh
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

Jazz Receive:

Brandon Ingram
Pacome Dadiet
Karlo Matkovic
2026 Pelicans 1st round pick, top 5 protected (Mil swap rights)
2027 Knicks second round pick (via OKC, HOU, MIA, or IND)

Pelicans Receive:

Mitch Robinson
John Collins
Knicks 2026 second round pick (via DET, IND, or MIA)

Please note that though the Pelicans are trading a 1st round pick in 2026, they are essentially moving back to the early part of Round 2 via getting the Knicks 2026 second rounder via Detroit.

I cannot fathom NO would give this any consideration. Mitch at the very best is a neutral contract, Collins a negative, yet NO sends out Ingram and a 1st for them?

even as an Ingram hater, this is a terrible deal for the Pels.

So some how UTAH gets to dump Collins bad deal, get Ingram, NY rook(25th pick) NOP 1st, & NY 2nd all for Kessler.

Why wouldn’t the Pelicans just take Kessler in this scenario?

New York gets the “worst of” 2nd between Detroit, Milwaukee, and Orlando, while Orlando gets the best 2 of the 3.

But what’s your reasonings here? I personally don’t see New Orleans really wanting Mitch himself. Let alone paying a 1st and Ingram for him and Collins. This seems a pretty terrible overpay for New Orleans.

Utah can't say yes fast enough, we'd just flip Ingram for whatever is available. I think it is easier to remove New York and find a third team who will send expirings and a first + asset for Ingram to adjust the value between Utah and New Orleans. I like the idea of both Collins and Kessler for them because suddenly their center rotation is average with different options (stretch 5 for offense, Kessler for defense) that allow them to adjust to other teams and maximize Zion.

Pels would just take Kessler.

NOP get Kessler, Collins
UTA get 3rd team assets
3rd team get Ingram

Knicks get cut out
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

My latest favorite realiticish Ingram trade:

Bucks get Smart, Theis

Grizz get Ingram, JRE

Pels get Lopez, Clarke, MEM 1st, two MEM 2nds, MIL 2031 2nd

Knicks are not adding any value here and just taking it

Dadiet + WSH FRP + Sims for Kessler makes sense if we need an upgrade while Mitch is out, but adding Mitch and the rest of this just overcomplicates things.

I do wonder if an Ingram - Allen trade could have legs when Cleveland is ready to start Mobley at the 5.
