This doesn't address any holes for the Pelicans while they downgrade drastically in terms of talent while lowering their overall ceiling.

I bet the Grizzles have offered this deal to the Pelicans

I don’t think the Grizz are interested in bringing in BI due to contract situation and overall fit. But I think a deal could be done just need a 3rd team in a hypothetical situation like the Raptors or another team that can fill the center need

Because Clarke is valuable to Memphis only. He is a role player whose role is diminished elsewhere.

Raptors Trade Poeltl
Receive Brandon Clarke, John Konchar and 25 1st

Grizz Trade Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, John Konchar, 25&27 1st
Receive Brandon Ingram

Pelicans Trade Brandon Ingram
Receive Smart, Poeltl and 27 1st

Do Pelicans think this is enough with Murray now out a month and Are the Raptors okay with rehabbing BC’s value to flip him further.

If I am NOP I would be willing to make the trade. Not sure Toronto would do it.

That is an interesting framework here. Refreshing to see a poster offer actual value (2 firsts) for Ingram. So far, in 2 games BI has upped his 3 point attempts and makes, and just hit a game winner. Some team will surely see the value in adding him for a real Conference Finals push and bet on team culture and fit to get Ingram to re-sign at a less than max number. I think that team could very well be the Pels, though.

I like the idea of Poeltl on the Pels. Smart would be cool, but can't afford to have that many not-great 3 pt shooters in the rotation (Zion, Herb, Center, Smart). Makes more sense if Smart is sent to a 3rd team. And the main reason Pels would consider trading Ingram is due to salary concerns. Bringing in Poeltl and Smart brings the same salary concerns next season, forcing them to trade McCullom (or Smart or Poeltl).

Thanks, I think the deal could be the move to take Grizz to the next level but don’t think our front office is thinking next level.

Smart can net a rotation player and a 1st to the right team to get the Pels another asset. But again with Murray out Smart fills a real need for them.

To push it over Santi could be added or switched for Konchar.

Now that makes it much more enticing, actually. Aldama could be a valuable stretch-big for the Pels. I doubt GM Griffin would trade BI within conference unless for a huge overpay, but you've given me a lot of ammo to work with in the fanspo trade machines this week :D

I don't think Pels or any team is making a panic move this early in the season to cover for a 4-6 week injury. Without Murray, Pels have essentially the same roster that won 49 games last season. No Murray just means more Ingram and Zion point-forward running the offense. CJ or Alvarado running point if they have it going. Not ideal, but that can tread enough water until Murray gets back.

At this point, with the season started, our fake trades should probably be made as expected at the trade deadline. Murray will be back well before by then, so that PG need likely won't be a factor then.

I could see Pels just cutting out TOR and keeping the 2 1sts. Or replace them with MIL, Smart + Theis for Lopez. Even better if Aldama is involved (expendable with emergence of Huff?).

MIL trades: Brook Lopez
Receive: Smart, Theis

Grizz Trade: Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, Santi Aldama, 25 & 27 1sts
Receive: Brandon Ingram

Pelicans Trade: Brandon Ingram, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Daniel Theis
Receive: Brook Lopez, Brandon Clarke, Santi Aldama, '25 and '27 MEM 1sts (top 5? prot.)

Or, to simplify your original trade: remove Konchar, send Smart to TOR, Boucher and Aldama to NOP.

Raptors Trade: Jakob Poeltl, Christopher Boucher
Receive: Smart, Clarke, '25 MEM 1st (top-8? prot.)

Grizz Trade: Marcus Smart, Brandon Clarke, Santi Aldama, 25 & 27 1sts
Receive: Brandon Ingram, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Daniel Theis

I don't think there is a single Grizz fan outside of QMemphis that would consider any of these. There is no way we are going to be the team that pays the premium for Ingram and max him as a 4th option here. Zero chance.

Yeah I mentioned in an earlier post we wouldn’t do this, but wanted to play a bit of let’s make a deal.
