OKC & PHX - Trade

Post#1 » by KdoubleDees23 » Mon Nov 18, 2024 3:18 pm

OKC - Trades Jalen Williams, Hartenstein + Draft Picks (Which ones)
PHX - Trades KD + Nurkic

Let KD join SGA and take Thunder to a ring!

for OKC - they get KD to take them over the top and get them a ring

SGA
Caruso
Dort
KD
Nurkic - Chet (When he returns)

for Suns - they are injury and need some future assets as KD , Beal are getting old! Keep Booker as he has been loyal to PHX

Tyus - Beal
Booker
Jalen Williams
Dunn
Hartenstein - OSO (For Now till IH is back)

I think this would be a win for both teams! I know OKC loves Jalen Williams, but does KD Bring them over the top?

Leaving aside the fact that the trade is not remotely legal - OKC would be sending out roughly $35MM and taking back $70MM - I doubt you could find a Thunder fan, player, or executive who would trade Jalen Williams (age 23) straight up for KD (age 36) right now.

Can suns extend Jalen Williams to a contract? Or when is that possible?

Next offseason. Trade isn't going to happen though.

Why ?

KD - aging star, ruined relationship with OKC earlier. Unlikely OKC gives up assets, much less a future cornerstone player, for him

PHX - division rival of OKC, thus OKC is helping PHX's future if OKC is sending picks for KD in the future, while hurting their own future.

In the present, Williams is healthy and KD is injured, and the trade is illegal right now due to salary you proposed.

So, yeah... D-O-A.

I am just trying to see what we can get for KD. Only team that may possibly make sense is the Rockets, but I doubt KD wants to go there.

I dont think you get Jdub straight up. And honestly, if it isnt a slam dunk cant-say-no- deal for OKC, i dont think they have any interest in him

OKC isnt messing up this recipe with a short sighted move like this.

Argument that even the immediate return wouldnt make them a better team.

as others have said, KD is not getting JDub straight up, let alone with assets attached.

would be ideal if you tried a team with better contracts. Kings ? something Eastern conference, maybe Bulls or Orlando ?

A couple of Thunder fans in here are super optimistic about JDub. I'm also pretty stoked for his potential, but we've also seen guys flame out.

Do I think the Thunder WOULD trade JDub for KD (aside from the obvious economic issues pointed out about the trade as constructed)? No. Is it an affront? No, not at all. He's more injury-prone now, but KD is still one of the best players in the NBA and he'd fit like a glove on this team on the court. Dub is very good but also very young; we've seen a lot of teams trade good young guys for good veterans, even if it shortens the timeline. And OKC has the assets to "have their cake and eat it too."

If there was a time to do this, though, it would have been the offseason, not now.
