Yeah this is the crux of it for me too. I agree with godaddy that it doesn't really kill the depth. Looney is a loss but he's playing 15 mpg. It's far from killer. But if he's not making the team meaningfully better, taking on that contract just makes no sense at all.
Hard to sell GSW on this deal when Wiggins is looking pretty good again to start the year and PG isn't. I know that can easily flip the other direction at any point, but with Wiggins being a durable player and PG not especially as he ages, I'd pass on this one pretty quickly.
I just find it interesting one month of subpar play/health from george is enough to make GSW (fans) change their mind on a transaction they pushed really hard for in the offseason
Different costs now, as explained, and the fact this season has been a billboard for the benefit of a strength in numbers concept. No doubt PG would thrive in GS (like Hield, I think he’s better in a motion offense like GS than Philly’s offense-no disrespect to Philly because they’re running the offense you should when you have an Embid and Maxey), but killing depth, defense and requiring more minutes at C for Dray to add a perfect fit, but one with health issues, isn’t as appealing. Especially with how the team is currently playing
