Atlanta in: Nic Claxton, Dennis Schroder, and Cam Johnson
Atlanta out: Clint Capela, De'Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, David Roddy, and 2025 LAL 1st

Brooklyn in: Michael Porter Jr., Clint Capela, DaRon Holmes, David Roddy, 2025 LAL 1st, 2031 Den 1st
Brooklyn out: Nic Claxton, Dennis Schroder, and Cam Johnson

Denver in: De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic
Denver out: Michael Porter Jr, DaRon Holmes, and 2031 1st

Hawks:

Atlanta has some big wins this season but are struggling when Trae Young is off the court. With Young, Johnson, and Risacher they have some nice young pieces. They double-down on some help from players that fit their core/timeline. Johnson/Risacher/Johnson can all play together across the forward spots. Claxton steps in for Capela who's been in decline. and Schroder help improve the non-Trae minutes.

Nets:
Nets continue reducing future payroll. Get young pieces in Roddy and Holmes. MPJ himself is only 26. And they add future 1sts.

Nuggets:
Turn one players into 2 to help support their depth. Bogdanovic has built in chemistry with Jokic from playing for Serbia. Hunter's actually been outshooting MPJ this season and will also provide more on the defensive end for some better balance.

It's just way too big obviously. But the first place this falls apart is Denver who really gets terrible value here.

I'm as low as Porter Jr as one can get, Michael not Kevin that obviously is. But I'd take him over Hunter without thinking twice and I thought Holmes was a steal in the draft. Bogdan holds little value, if any, at this point. No reason for Denver to give up a, potentially, juicy first here. Maaaybe if they kept Holmes and dumped Nnaji.

Hawks getting to much value. Too light for Denver.
I don’t love it for Brooklyn either. They are trading away the best assets in the trade for a couple high variance picks.
Idk maybe those picks make it worth it for them. Value needs to be adjusted to be better for Denver while not making it any worse for Nets.

Interesting feedback on the trade.

The Holmes comments are interesting. Can you be the steal of the draft if you're out with a torn Achilles and have never played a game.

Every year you have Nikola Jokic in his prime is a year you could win a title. Denver obviously doesn't have a lot of moving pieces. Hunter and Porter currently each provide you 19 points per game. Hunter is actually doing so with better efficiency and better 3P%, you're then also adding in Bogdanovic on top of it.

Certainly short-sighted, sort of by design.

But yes, obviously probably too big for real consideration.

As we approach December 15th I was trying to look at what teams are likely to be buyers and sellers and if there's good trade pairings between them. Denver in particular is a tough one.

Atlanta is taking back A LOT of extra long-term salary that they can't necessarily afford. Capela is likely gone after this season and Atlanta is using that money for JJ's extension, so taking on an extra 6 million next season, 21 the season after, and 21 the season after that one isn't really in the books for a team that has been trying to stay under the tax threshold.

Additionally, Schroder had an extremely bad exit when he left Atlanta. I am not sure the city itself wants him back.
