I like the concept. 2nds should go to the Pelicans though, especially because they take Vando's contract.
Reaves (38) / Butler (10)
Knecht (30) / Christie (10) /Burks (8)
Butler (28) / Christie (20)
Lebron (38)/Love (10)
Davis (38)/Theis (10)
That's a plausible playoff rotation.

I think its an okay concept, but someone would probably swoop in and replace the Lakers spot by offering less junk contracts, with less incentive.
If I was Pelicans GM, I feel like I might be on the hotseat, and not want a pick 5 years from now for the next GM to enjoy.

Are Heat getting enough value?

Good trade. Make it so.

Butler-Ingram trade doesn't move the needle for the Heat. I think the trade will be for young players and picks.
I expect the Heat to make a rebuilding decision this summer. Pat Riley has already hinted at retirement and ownership hates paying taxes.

I wouldn't expect a rebuild.
This trade isn't awful. If we could move off of Terry for expiring contracts it would actually be quite acceptable under the circumstances. We may even be decent this year:
Pg: Russell / Smith
Sg: Herro / Robinson
Sf: Ingram / Jaquez
Pf: Highsmith / Jovic
Cc: Adebayo / Ware

The Pelicans aren't going to eat all that salary for an unprotected 1st 5 years out. David Griffin doesn't have that type of runway.

Terry is an expiring next year, keep him to make a subsequent move next year and to have a playoff run with him this year.

I think the Heat's value is good, but I'm also higher on Ingram than a lot of other people on the board. I think Ingram, Herro, and Bam would fit well together and I'd be interested to see how Spo maximizes them.
I think it's a good point that while the trade might be good for the Pelicans in general, it might be unattractive to Griffin in particular because he may not feel much job security. Still, the Pels have a ton of picks and good young players and the unprotected '29 Lakers pick would be extremely valuable. I think could package some of those assets to get another star that fits Zion a bit better.

That Lakers package has negative value.
Vanderbilt has 3 more years after this one and he will not be playing more then 10 games a season. You need a 1st just to get rid of him.
Vincent is awful. Rui is solid but at his sallary has also no value.
Pelicans are better just letting Ingram walk then go for that package.

Christie can sub in for Vando
