A good idea, except that Detroit only has $10.2 million in cap room, so they have to send out at least $2.6 million in salary. Sasser, at $2.7 million, works. I'm not sure that the Pistons want to give up Sasser, who seems to be playing okay for them, and use their entire cap space, for a 2nd.
Trade machine shows DET with 30+ M in cap room.
If not, find a 3rd team with a TPE big enough to take Melton.
Per Spotrac, $10.24 million in cap space. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/detroit-pistons/cap/_/year/2024/sort/cap_total
The thread started with a different team, Toronto, taking Melton. This was posed as an alternative.
Yeah, but getting TOR paid for turning Brown into Meltons contract makes the trade harder since GSW is not looking to take on a bunch of money and Miami cannot.
