But I think Nets fans are also becoming a tad deluded into thinking that guys like Schroder and DFS have a ton of value around the league just because they're looking like quality starters and rotation dudes on a scrappy play-in squad. We heard the same "Nets want 1st round pick(s) for DFS" schtick last season and of course that never even remotely materialized.
Schroder is a 31-year old expiring who only fetched a salary dump at last year's deadline. I mean, there's a reason why they all but came out and said that they're shopping everyone on the roster, so being stingy about their mediocre assets is antithetical to what they should be doing right now. And that's leveraging future cap space for assets. But sure, if they really value cap space next season, then by all means, prioritize that over maximizing the asset return. I think that would be dumb, because no one's swapping expirings AND giving you a 1st round pick on top of it. Which is why this is a good trade for Brooklyn as constructed. That Lakers pick is a high potential draft asset and these are the types of trades they should be making.
Sharpe started the year with an injury and missed games early on.
With all of the injuries the Nets lineups have been very inconsistent.
It is a wonder they won so many games so far.
