Just a quick question on trades
Wasn't sure where to post this, but thought this was the best place.
Is there a rule where teams have to come out and say they're trading such and such player and what they want for such player?
If a team also says they're not Interested In trading such player can they later on change their minds b4 the deadline?
Example; Kessler from Utah was on the trading block, Utah wanted 2 firsts, but now they're saying they not looking at trading Kessler?

They don’t need to come out and announce , they can just call up agents(own players) and other teams to have a chat.

Re: Just a quick question on trades
There's certainly no rule that teams have to announce what players that they've made available in trades. In fact there's no official 'trade block' or anything like that. Teams can publicly announce something like that but they certainly don't have to. It's very rare that there's a direct public statement. It's generally just leaks to media and/or speculation by the media.
Mostly teams just talk to each other, seeing who might be available.

No. Teams share who they're willing to trade, and what they want for them, by discussing at different levels personally with executives of other franchises, and sometimes with agents. That news then leaks to reporters in different manners, or at different times. And sometimes, the news leaked isn't real, so much as what someone involved wants specifically reported to help their personal interests.

trade rumors tend to be a real world example of fake news. be a critical thinker and don't believe everything you read.

Unless the rumour is that my team players are awesome and worth multiple firsts.

Well, no. The rumor is always that your team is desperate to trade someone and MY TEAM holds ALL the leverage…..

This. Think about the tweet in June that started this Kessler discussion on RealGM. https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=2387917 It wasn't "Utah has put Kessler on the block", it was "Rival teams believe Utah is willing to engage in trade talks that would part ways with Jazz second-year center Walker Kessler." Even the reported two FRP ask was more like... a team inquired about Kessler, the Jazz said that they would need at least two firsts, and the discussion ended.
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world...
... NO, YOU MOVE."
... NO, YOU MOVE."

Yes but i don’t have to trade to tank , your team on the other hand would do well to integrate my player as soon as you can .
You are 1 trade away from being a true contender. Don’t let an extra first rounder stand in your way.
I throw in a second semi useful player if you will unprotect both first rounder. Remember I’m doing you a favour here.

Re: Just a quick question on trades
bonus points if you are Toronto and I have a Canadian player for you or if your star is European and I have another Balkan player for you (call this one the Goran Dragic rule). You must be give me a first because he could never play with Americans for reasons.

Ages ago Nate Duncan had a good podcast about the process of these things with John Hollinger https://open.spotify.com/episode/4WQw2TyL2eYNxCuxBspafx?si=WpHsgelETISNuftTZjPw3g
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Re: Just a quick question on trades
One of the most fun facts that a lot of people don't realize is that as far as I know, salary information isn't TECHNICALLY public. It just always leaks.
