GS is not going to replace 4 rotation players, 2 starters, so they can sign 3 rookie minimum contracts, who will sit on the bench, and the privilege of having Butler. And then try to nurse him through the season in hopes he can be healthy enough for the playoffs, which they would be lucky to get to anymore.

Of course, you should. You're stealing value

Miami should say yes too. Jimmy is no longer worth his contract, and he’s owed >$50M next year.

No, we shouldn't. He's better than any player we get here, and we're ceding value so you guys can say yes. You're suggesting we move off of him - fine - but like any other team we're going to make the best trade for us, and that means you guys get cut out.

Golden State would hesitate. I dunno if a 4 for 1 is a realistic trade. Maybe they get Kevin Love too? He can still be an old Channing Frye like role.

I agree, they should be getting small contracts from Miami. We can include Josh Richardson and Alec Burks, too.

The Warriors are just under the first apron by half a mil, with only 14 players on the roster. They are literally forbidden from doing a 4 for 1 trade, I believe. If not, it would still be a bad idea.

They could do something like Wiggins/Kuminga/Shroder/Payton/picks for Butler/Love/Richardson/Larsson, but that would be a mistake, in my opinion. Butler doesn’t fit their offensive system or their team philosophy.

I don't think Miami would include Larsson. It would be Burks.

Hence the phrase “something like.” The key here is that the Warriors, in fact most teams, won’t be willing to trade four players for one while this CBA is in effect.

I liked Burks when he briefly played for the Warriors. The other players might have to be adjusted so it doesn’t put them over the apron, but I’d be okay with him in the deal.
