LAL/CHI

Post#1 » by dcstanley » Mon Dec 30, 2024 1:47 pm

CHI in: Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood Schifino, Jaxson Hayes, 2028 pick swap, 2029 LAL lightly protected FRP, 2025 LAC SRP
LAL in: Coby White and Jalen Smith

LAL balances their rotation after the DFS trade by bringing in a dynamic point guard and quality backup big.

Reaves/White/Vincent
Christie/Knecht/Milton
DFS/Vando/Reddish
LBJ/Wood
AD/Smith/Koloko

Chicago finally begins selling key pieces. They get draft capital that has potential to be extremely valuable and a rotation PF that they might be able to trade for value in the near future.

Giddey/Ball/Carter
Lavine/Ayo/Terry
Williams/Matas/THT
Rui/Phillips
Vucevic/Hayes

I think there’s a lot of upside in the 2029 LAL first and even the 2028 swap. One team should be coming out of a rebuild, while one team is entering it.

And if Chicago did want to continue the play-in dream, Rui isn’t a bad fit for them. Though I’d hope this signals full rebuild obviously.

For LAL, I don’t know if they’re willing to trade those distant picks. Feels like a win on value for them, just not sure if they are willing to do it.

I think it gives AD/LBJ enough help that you do it though personally. That top 8 is really well balanced and you have hope of Vandy/Vincent showing up

I like this for us, I think a scoring guard off the bench fits us better than Rui off the bench. And Smith is solid

I don’t think CHI are that willing to give up Coby though?

Coby White is not any kind of problem for the Bulls. This trade does two good things, gives them a real PF and has Williams finally move to the SF for the first time.

But it does a whole lot of confusion and bad things. They still have Lavine and Vucevic who everybody agrees haven't won enough games until now and aren't part of the future. They give up the last contributing FA signing in recent memory who is young enough to be part of the future after half a season. Rui, good but not a real game changer win wise, nor all that young. Hayes a nice back up center. Why would anyone want a pick swap with a Laker franchise that always spends the money to win and never tanks? The Bulls VP Karnasovas isn't going to get a pick 4 years down the road for the guy that takes his job to use.

This is unusually fair...I generally expect Laker fans to see the rest of the league as their farm system. Sadly, they're often proven right

The swap is interesting but the lightly protected '29 is the key. I really like Coby, but he's far from a sure thing and I think Rui does have some value too.

Good trade. I'll try to work on my negative assumptions going forward. :D

I'd decline as CHI. A swap and protected 1st in 4 years isn't awful I guess, but I'd want something sooner for moving Coby.

How lightly protected are we talking?
