No picks either way.

If Charlotte would do that, Lakers should be all over it.

I imagine you guys at least need a couple 2nds for that swap though.

I guess I like Vanderbilt more than most and dislike Richards more than most. I do understand his value as a cheap rim protector who can impact paint defense for 2 playoff runs. Longterm I just think Vanderbilt is superior in every way and more versatile defensively. Not sure about his injury situation though. I think if the market for Nick Richards is multiple teams, Hornets can find a target that offers more certainty/reliability.

He played 29 games last season.. then "Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt experienced fluid in his left knee during rehabilitation from offseason procedures to both feet and is targeting a return in early January.

Vanderbilt has yet to play this season, recovering from two offseason foot surgeries"

How many red flags do you need? He is a guy that's game is built 95% on being athletic, he can't shoot and has very little offensive skill and now he has issues with both feet and a knee?

Okay, I don't want the risk. That's why I asked if he's finished or just done for the year. He could just be finished and that's a risk Hornets don't have to take.

Lakers still are not trading a 1st round pick for Nick Richards. Did you watch the game last night? If not, re-watch exclusively the Nick Richards minutes. He's a trainwreck.

I wouldn’t mind something like Grayson for Richards+ a wing or forward from a 3rd team since Charlotte seems to not have any over 6’5.

I am not saying I would love to either, but they don't have any other options.

Here are their current trade packages...

Filler contracts (Hayes, JHS, Wood, Reddish) and 2 2nds (51 and 53).
- That isn't bringing anyone Lakers fans care about.
- Picks after 50 in the draft have a 90% chance to be busts and because they are this year gives team no time to flip them.

Vincent or Vando and those 2 2nds
- Both are negative contracts is a worse package then one listed above.

So yeah if they want to get anyone decent they need to trade one of their firsts unless they make Knecht or Reeves available.

Problem is they are likely having to send out Vando and Vincent as the main filler in any trade that includes a first, which is bringing down the value of the package. This is why trading DLo already hurts them because he was a complete neutral or slightly positive to almost any team. So because every trade has negative salary going the other way it is going to feel like an overpay for the players the Lakers are getting.

So yeah trading a first for Richards is an overpay, but they are also dumping Vando. They are also getting back the 31st pick. All things to help offset the value because the Lakers don't have any quarters to trade. They have a dollar and 2 nickels.

It is going to be hard for the Lakers to beat any team in a trade if there is competition without it looking like an overpay.

-If a player like Richards is demanding 2 2nds, Hornets can probably find a team that can give them 2 better 2nds than 51 and 53.

-If the Lakers are offering a first round pick for Sexton, the Jazz can probably find a deal that doesn't include them taking back a Vincent or Vando.

They're going to go with Val. He can't protect the rim but he can space some and rebound.

Are they giving up a 1st rounder for Val?

If I am the Wizards I would rather have Val then Vincent and those two bad 2nds. That is assuming no team can offer the Wizards an expiring and 2nds, which would quickly beat this Lakers offer.

I'd rather punt than surrender a 1st.
