Next Nets deal (but not Cam, no more Cam)

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Mon Dec 30, 2024 10:26 pm

Capela
Nance
27 worst of MIL/NOP 1st(top 4)
1st round swap (Nets can swap either the Knicks or Rockets pick with the Lakers pick(top 4 protected))

for

Claxton

Nets get to move up a bit in this draft(so it doesn't add to their 1sts just improves the worst one) and get a future pick. Also take on no future salary and the salary they get might be flippable for worse and a 2nd.

Hawks go get a locked up young center to pair with OO who fits in great with their developing core. Cost is reasonable.

Nets will need to pay to dump some salaries to avoid the tax. I think they are like 1 mil away from tax line as it stands after LAL trade. Question is should Atlanta pay for that too or not

oh missed the tax. Yeah they should split the cost of making sure the Nets don't hit it. Hawks can send cash, Nets can send 2nds since the next thing we will hear anyway is 2nds have no value because they have so many...

I would do this. The easiest way to unravel the tax issue would be for Atlanta to also take back Zaire Williams. That being said, that '27 pick could have nice upside, even though it's a worst of. I don't think it would be a shock if either team, NOLA or MIL, needs to reset by then, and neither are big markets that can bank on free agency.

Yes, I've thought about a few different versions of Capela for Claxton. This one is acceptable. I would prefer Bufkin over the 27 1st.

Looks pretty fair for both sides, I'd think. :wordyo: And Claxton MAY be in the process of checking out on Brooklyn anyway, after a few incidents this year...

good trade I like it...would it make sense to add Houston to the trade??

HOUSTON
In:Capela/Zeller
Out:Adams/Landale or Jeff Green

They assume a few million, to improve the position

NETS
In:Nance/Adams
Out: Claxton

+ selections from the original trade

HAWKS
In: Claxton/Landale
Out:Nance/Capela/Zeller

They can still use Landale's expiration to find a backup guard. Tre Jones? Micic?

Completely unrelated and off the topic, but after reading the title, I hoped this would be a Cam Thomas trade...

Take Nance out and replace him with Bufkin and you have a deal.

Seems really easy to dump Nance on a third team. But…

If you add Melton for Kobe and one of Zeller/Rody.. It seems like it keeps both sides under the tax…

With Kobe being hurt, Melton being hurt.. seems to make some sense there.

No no no you don't get it...other teams' 2nd round picks aren't valuable because we have so many, but ours are very valuable.

Nance is out indefinitely/at least another month or more, so not that easy?

He’s an 11 million dollar expiring.

And Brooklyn also can take back 6 million dollars (8 if you include Keon or someone) and Atlanta can take back 4. So it’s not even like they need a team to take back the full 11 million dollars.

Seems like a small problem. Easy even? Especially if Atlanta wants to send Zeller to Brooklyn and bring back a Richards or some other useful 5-7 million dollar player. Probably costs the same two seconds as just dumping Nance on Det or Washington or Toronto.

But I’d just do the Melton for Zeller and Kobe swap add on. Atlanta can look to trade Melton as an injured expiring or maybe look at him as a long term piece with Dyson/Trae.

Hawks go get a locked up young center to pair with OO

If the Hawks decide to trade for a starting center, then I'd imagine it'll be Okongwu traded out rather than Capela.

If they are looking to do a platoon, then I'd imagine they'll look for cheaper options.
