Middleton/Ingram swap

Post#1 » by jayjaysee » Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:36 pm

Another not going to go well kind of trade? Really feel like Det should be throwing in some seconds at least, but I have no idea how to value Middleton.

Milwaukee: Middleton, Connaughton, Johnson, 2028 swap (off of the worst of Mil/Port), 2031 first (top 8 protected)
Milwaukee: Ingram and Reaves

Milwaukee ties up their last first again, but at least protects it. But protects it this time? Middleton is so talented and impacts game a great deal, but availability and age matter. Ingram isn’t the healthiest third option in the league but he is 6 years younger than Middleton. And any team willing to pay him, seems like they’ll get to keep him.

NOP: Ingram, Reaves and 1-2 of Theis/JRE/Green (DET’s choice)
NOP: THJ, Connaughton, Johnson, Moore, 2028 swap (off of the worst of Mil/Port), 2031 first (top 8 protected)

NOP moves on from Ingram at an admittedly cheap feeling price... They add another future first from Milwaukee and look at AJ Johnson. Could be their only move, or could be the first of a fire sale. No idea.

Detroit: THJ and Moore
Detroit: Middleton and 1-2 of Theis/JRE/Green (DET’ choice)

Detroit leverages their cap space to bring Middleton back a decade too late. If Middleton does miss a month, it won’t have the same impact as it does on a team with championship aspirations like Milwaukee. But he will help the kids win some important games, play the right way and expires the same time as Tobias.

We just brought back Tobias, we’re good on the nostalgia thing. They’re not leveraging their cap space for whatever Middleton has left in the tank at like $30 million + next season and whatever’s left on this season

When it costs almost $60 million for two 33 year olds, that’s past the limit
