Denver - Toronto - LAC

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:03 pm

Denver trade: Saric, 3 fillers, cash
Denver receive: Boucher

LAC trade: Tucker, cash
LAC receive: Saric, 1 filler

Toronto trade Boucher
Toronto receive: Tucker, 1 filler, cash

Team X eats last filler for cash

Why for LAC: ducks the tax and ends up with (much) more cash than what they send out
Why for DEN: upgrade their bench rotation
Why for Toronto: get some cash that can be used to buy 2nd(s)
Why for team X: make some dough

Denver has to backfill roster spots so I think this costs too much real money to be worth it, but if their governor is willing to pay the price, I guess.

Clippers I would assume aim higher first. This is fine if they can't do better.

Seems about right for Toronto.

I thought the new CBA made some unfriendly changes to stacking mins. Maybe not implicated here.

But yeah the trouble with Saric for Boucher this year is that it just gets them too close to the 2nd apron.

I think they have enough room under the 2nd apron to back fill

Who would the 3 fillers be? With Holmes and Cancar out, would they even have a full 15 man rotation? Even with the 2 way guys?

You can back fill and sign vet mins to get to 14 man. Or convert your 2 ways. Or trade cancar out

I'd be terrified of giving any of those 2 way guys a regular contract. They all stink.

Would just be for a year. Does it matter who your 12th to 15th man is

Denver already has depth issues. So when two of those guys are out for the year and three are unplayable UDFA rookies, I think it would matter. Signing multiple free agents who haven't played all season wouldn't solve that. There's a reason no one has signed those guys yet.

They'd probably have to trade Tyson, Pickett, Jordan. Those three aren't great, but have filled in at times when starters have missed games. Moving four guys for one guy who plays 17 minutes per game. Eh.

Edit: forgot to mention that Malone despises Nnaji and basically refuses to play him, ever. So that's yet another wasted roster space.

If Denver can fill the roster after this, I like it for them.

No idea if Dario is still helpful enough to take on his 5 mil next season. I’d guess he is compared to PJ?

Toronto should do it obviously.

I think if LAC are at the level of Dario.. They just cut Denver out and add a 2nd for Boucher. Maybe do a Bones/Temple or don’t even take Temple back. Have room to “bid” on buy out candidates..

They should be trying to trade Tucker and salaries to try and get better though. And Saric/Boucher is better, but a low bar.

sure why not Tucker either gets bought out and is free to sign with whoever and Toronto goes into full blown tank mode for Harper/Flagg/Bailey or they hold onto him and try to move him to someone for a useless expiring and second which is a long shot. Clippers should do this

I like this very much. Here is an idea to fill empty spots

Denver trade: Saric, 3 fillers Cancar, Pickett, Tyson, cash
Denver receive: Boucher

LAC trade: Tucker, cash
LAC receive: Saric, 1 filler

Toronto trade Boucher
Toronto receive: Tucker, 1 filler, Pickett, Tyson, cash

Team X Detroit eats last filler Cancar for cash

Why for LAC: ducks the tax and ends up with (much) more cash than what they send out
Why for DEN: upgrade their bench rotation
Why for Toronto: get some cash, that can be used to buy 2nd(s) and 2 young players - Pickett, Tyson. Both on cheap contracts, one may become part of future rotation. Toronto must cut Tample and Omoruyi to make rooster spots to make it work
Why for team X Detroit: make some dough, cut Cancar (expiring) and be ready to turn cap space into some value again
