Bulls/Lakers

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:45 pm

Vucevic
2025 POR 1st (top 14 through 28, then 28 POR 2nd)

for

Rui
Knecht

Bulls get back a playable young forward in Rui, but mostly this is about Knecht, a guy starting his rookie contract to grow with. They flip the eventual maybe of the Portland pick for the right now of Knecht.

Lakers get a talented center who pairs well with AD, but AD can still play most of his minutes at center if the Lakers prefer. They not only keep their own firsts towards something else in the off-season but add another pick. Now it may never convey as a first but 3 more shots at it makes it better than just taking multiple 2nds back imo.

i wonder if both sides would instead prefer

vuc/craig for vando/vincent/knecht

OP is fine value wise but if i'm the bulls i wouldn't be sending out any picks in a rebuild. i understand knecht is worth more than the pick but they should ideally try to make up the value difference other ways

Always open to better variations so if people like your version better, cool with me.

The Bulls don't prefer getting Vincent for another year at $11M when they have Jevon Carter at $6.5M for another year. They'd both sit at the end of the bench.

That's an equal deal BUT, you're leaving the Bulls with Jalen Smith as the only center on the roster. OK you feel he's improving and could start, who is his backup? Why do the Lakers hang onto Jaxson Hayes for no minutes and then they probably need to take back Craig to keep the Bulls from releasing him?

Yes Rui starts at the 4 over Williams, maybe.

Knechte is right now, who does he take minutes from, Giddey, Lavine, White, Ball, Dosunmu, THT, or even Duarte?

Tough for me to swallow lakers saving draft capital. I prefer sending draft capital route but value fine imo.

Don’t see the Lakers giving up Knecht for Vuc.

Lakers are in this soft rebuild while staying as asset rich as possible for a big move. Can't see them tossing Knecht into a deal for Vuc. Rui + 2nd (two?) feels right?

The Lakers don't need a back up 5 that badly, especially not one the coach might start.

I actually prefer OP because Vucevic would be taking Rui's role anyway and Lakers would be losing to rotation players that can defend guards (Vando and Vincent) and not getting any back in this iteration.

I don't see anything in either iteration worth giving up Knecht for. Knecht helps NOW and in the future. By the time that Portland pick conveys (as likely to be a single 2nd than a first with the shape Portland's in) Lebron and/or AD will very possibly have moved on.

In order on what Lakers need for big is; Kessler, Richards, Sharp, WCJ, Ayton (too much), Vucevic.

Need defense, reb, blks. Need to stay away from Jonas that's all I ask in regards to BIGS and need to be young and cheap

I agree that something like Rui + JHS + 2nds seems closer.
