Something between TMLE 1 + 1 w PO and Full MLE 1+1 w TO with some 2-3m in GTD money on the 2nd year. I think if the perfect spot only has the league min available then it would be considered too but he will likely be turning down more money to take it.

2 years and $10M.

He might find a place to land. I can say the same thing as when the 10 per week trades to the Bulls kept coming up. Because he can't/won't shoot from outside when he's on the floor you need to have 4 shooters with him. And not just guys who can shoot but 4 long range threats that can stretch the floor and the defense has to cover. I never saw the Bulls with 4 of those so no trade for $40M was ever going to happen.

something like a 1+1 deal at $8M to the MLE, depending on the team. Might depend on how much basketball he's able to play the rest of the season and/or if he's traded at the deadline. But if he actually plays 50+ games like he's on pace to do, he's a valuable role player, even if he's very frustrating.

Yeah I think this is his range more or less. 1+PO at the tax MLE fully guaranteed on the low end, 3-year full MLE with heavy incentives/a partially guaranteed second year and a TO or unguaranteed third year on the high end.

Given that the Nets are still building their roster I think they would be happy to have him back on a $10 mil 2 year contract.

They might have other designs on that cap space but they could always front load the deal if they are going free agent hunting in 2026.

FWIW, Draymond is shooting 36% from 3 on ~4 attempts a game. I do think that's a reasonable role to think about Simmons in though, as a high-end outcome.

Valid. This year and last have been his best shooting seasons. A career low 30% shooter otherwise.

Oh for sure, no one's suddenly fearing Draymond as an outside shooter. But I do think there's a pretty important difference between a 30% shooter and a guy who just flat out refuses to shoot 3s even if wide open.

I'd expect 1 year (or 1 year + TO or unguaranteed 2nd year) at MLE or less. I can't see a 2nd year or PO at anything above a vet min deal. You just can't rely on him.

My opinion is if Simmoms would simply work on his free throws, he could again be a factor as a PG. As it is, he cannot be played in any close game. Just get respectable in the upper 70s%.

Most likely - vet min. If someone offers him more than that, I assume it would be a team option on any future years.

LOL. So I'm a little pedantic at times...

Yeah, the idea he won't get a contract or winds up with a minimum like some are suggesting seems like a stretch.

I could see him playing a role similar to what Kyle Anderson did for the Wolves in recent years. That's enough to get some kind of MLE, or at worst something close to what Malik Beasley got from Detroit?

The alternative is that he does good to a good team for a lower salary and a chance to play for a winner. Not sure if he cares more about that or the money though.
