Suns/Sixers/Heat Swap Stars

Post#1 » by jredsaz » Sat Jan 18, 2025 2:37 am

Suns receive Jimmy Butler
Sixers receive Brad Beal, 2031 PHX 1st
Heat receive Paul George

Suns get Butler but give up their last draft asset to do it. They are all in. No idea if Beal agrees to a trade to Philly.

Sixers sitting at 15 wins and the 11 seed in the East shave a year off PGs contract and gain some draft capital for the rebuild. The often-injured Embiid is probably next on the block but he did want Beal on his team at one point.

Heat turn lemons into lemonade and replace their all-star small forward with a younger version, avoiding the dreaded Beal contract.

Nope. No interest in Paul George and that terrible contract.

If Miami was willing to take PG for Butler, that would be done already. Worst case scenario for Philly, they get bailed out of that contract.

And I'm not sure that Beal, with a year less, needs a high variable first like that to make the swap. Though I doubt most agree

The 8 month difference between PG and Butler isn’t big enough IMO. Miami would’ve just offered Butler the deal. I think if Philly does this, you need to trade PG for Tobias or maybe some combination of Spurs..

If Philly does this, and Miami doesn’t… Phoenix should take Paul George.

But Philly shouldn’t do this. Even on a 4 game losing streak, they’re only 2 games out of the play-in… and the Bulls would love to let them pass IMO. If they’re healthy come the play-in they can play with the big boys.

If Miami was willing to take PG on his contract, they’d have just given Jimmy the extension he wanted and we wouldn’t be in this mess, no?

Bradley Beal has more value than Paul George.

I don't know that I would agree with that. George has an extra year on Beal but that NTC is ridiculous! It makes it all but impossible to trade him. Both are like stabbing yourself in the eye, repeatedly, with a needle, but at least their is an opportunity to pass the needle stabbing off to another team with George...

On court, Beal be a better and more available player, both are a nightmare to move.

The only difference i can see is Beal is shooting better but George gets more rebounds and assists. Neither is really more productive than the other. Both would be tough to move but George could be sent to Utah or Detroit. Beal can refuse to leave.

Edit: Beal does not get credit for being more available.

Beal feels pretty worthless to Philly when they have Maxey and McCain next season and beyond. flip this trade the other direction and I like it more (but nobody else will)

Suns: Beal for PG
Philly: PG for Butler
Miami: Butler for Beal

but realistically there's no way Miami takes Beal and you're looking for another team that 1) needs what Beal brings 2) is ok with the contract and has other stuff to move, and 3) Beal wants to go to.

That's not better. Miami has Herro, who does the same things that Beal does, but better...

The trade is supposing a rebuild in Philly. But that would make it harder to believe Beal would go there.

If the Sixers are rebuilding, Beal and his contract are much less of an issue for the team. The first and saving a year on the contract are a priority.
