If you want a 4, make an offer for Obi.

Sac need a defender next to Sabonis

Nesmith?

Nesmith is more of a SF/SG, right?

Sabonis has below average length at the C spot so we ideally want a PF who has above average size, length, and athleticism at PF to help make up for that. I don’t think Nesmith at PF fits that description.

Agree. Aaron is a good defender at SF. Murray would be your PF.

I think the idea is to play Murray at SF (many of us think that’s his natural position and where he’s at his best) and to add someone with more size & length than Murray at PF.

Moving Murray back to SF means we’d have a SF who has above average size, length, and athleticism for his position (I don’t think he has above average size & length if we’re playing him at PF). And if we add a bigger/longer player at PF, he’d have above average size, length, and athleticism for his position as well.

Having two guys who are above average in these categories at SF and PF should really help negate Sabonis’ size/length disadvantage at C.

Good trade idea OP ... As you said both teams fans are just loyal/optimistic to their own guy but in theory the players' styles kind of match the other teams' more.

But objectively I do think it makes sense as I think Murray is a 3 being used as a 4 and Jarace is a 4 being used as a 3.

Both seem as talented as each other and these 2 teams have a history of trading.

It would be most difficult for Indy to have Mathurin and Murray to hit free agency the same year after Haliburton and Siakam maxed, and Myles hopefully re signed.

Good point. The Siakam max deal is a bit of a problem. Any chance Indy moves him?

I think Siakim, Haliburton, and Nembhard are the core we're building around. We also want to keep Turner but doing so many require some pain. I hope we don't repeat one of the worst trades in our history where we gave up a young prospect (Alex English) in a deal for an older starter(McGinnis).

Probably not. Not for a couple years, at least? The consistency he brings at the 4 right now is SOOO huge for the growth of the rest of this roster.
