But this deadline will tell us for sure. Because if he doesn't move its because I'm right and Portland decides they'd rather have the insurance/mentoring(Blazer fans talk about him doing this) than just clear the money. But they are never keeping him over getting real value of any kind because he's out of place on a team with a max guy and a mid lotto pick at his position.
Yes & No.
RW3 is under contract for another year, so if the only offers out there are a couple of 2nd's, POR probably waits and could deal him next year for likely the same price. Now if he gets injured again? All bets are off, that is why I would rather see him traded sooner, rather than later, but POR GM doesn't see it that way apparently. I also don't think he will re-sign with POR, but we are talking about a GM who isn't afraid to throw bad contracts to keep players on the team.
He matched Thybulle after all, which is fine (debateable) if you are going to preserve an asset and trade him, but he has a PO next year and could conceivably walk for nothing, so why match in the first place? POR GM makes moves that make little to no sense IMO.
But offloading RW3 in a deal just to clear money? I don't see that happening.
