This could be the holdup. If 3 picks satisfied all parties this would be done shortly after the Suns/Utah trade finalized. 1 pick for taking Beal. 1 pick for helping the Bucks move Connaughton. 1 pick to the Heat.

Something is missing for the Bucks. They're getting 2 late 1sts to take on 150 million which is even at best. And losing Portis, someone I consider 1st round value.

Dunn seems like a nice young player but Beal/Dunn just seems like such a weird fit for the Bucks. Doubling down on all offense no D in the backcourt, and big athletic guys that can't shoot at the forwards.

Yeah, might make more sense Heat get Dunn and the 1st earmarked to the Heat routes to the Bucks.

Team that takes Pat gets 2025.

Bucks get 2027 and 2029 with Beal.

Heat get Dunn, Middleton, Portis.

Dunn is not going to get included. He's a stud defensively with better offensive skills than advertised. You don't give up 7 years of team control of a guy like Dunn for the privilege of extending a decaying Jimmy Butler to a 50 mil plus a year contract.

Ya know the suns are probably the best run stupid team in the league. Ok trade the farm for KD fine. Thebeal trade stupid. But how they built the rest of the team and actually put a team around that much money in 3 guys is wild. And they have good scouting

The owner decides who signs the checks and who wears the uniform.

The GM must work his butt off to fulfill the owners wishes, as the office did for Durant, then Beal. Sure the GM can convey (with alarmism and urgency) the value of keeping Dunn long term. But if the deal falls apart on account of Dunn, it's the GM's rear end on the line.

Those lesser picks aren't going to help unload Beal's contract. The best case scenario trade I could see is Nurkic + picks for Poeltl. Toronto might still tell them to kick rocks since the picks are all going to be positioned 20+. The Suns should have tried to squeeze more picks out.

Not sure why Poeltl is worth more than a first in the 20s so as a Suns fan I’d hope the Raps would go tell the Suns to kick rocks.

The value is irrelevant here because Poeltl makes more than Nurkic and the Suns can't aggregate salary. That is what Godaddy was trying to point out....

The chances of finding a player better or equal to Poeltl in the 20s is very low, that's why.

I understand that but my comment was in reference to value. Never been a huge fan of Poeltl and I wouldn’t be giving up a first for him.

Bucks are trying to win a title for the next two years at least. Why would they actively make themselves worse and both Phoenix and Miami better?

Sure name some better players  take in consideration the chances of actually drafting that player too.
