Warriors/Pistons/Bulls

Post#1 » by HomoSapien » Tue Jan 28, 2025 5:57 am

Warriors Trade: Buddy Hield, Kevon Looney, Gary Payton, 2025 Heat 2nd, 2030 2nd
Warriors Receive: Nikola Vucevic and Chris Duarte

Pistons Trade: 2025 Raptors 2nd Round Pick
Pistons Receive: Buddy Hield

Bulls Trade: Nikola Vucevic and Chris Duarte
Bulls Receive: Kevon Looney, Gary Payton, 2025 2nd (Miami), 2025 2nd (Raptors), 2030 2nd (Warriors)

Why for the Warriors: It seems widely accepted that the Warriors want Vucevic but are unwilling to trade any firsts, Kuminga, or Moody. Well, here's a trade that checks all those requirements. Vuc gives them a chance at a play-in spot. Hield has played reasonably well for them, but his departure finally frees up real minutes for Moody. They also, if they want to, can give Duarte a look. He might actually fit in well in GS with his shooting potential.

Why for the Pistons: Detroit has a real chance at moving out of the play-in territory. Hield is a productive vet, on a great contract, who can improve the Pistons without rocking the boat.

Why for Chicago: The Bulls reportedly are holding out for a 1st for Vuc. If they can get it, they'll take it. If not, getting expiring contracts plus three 2nd round picks is a solid return with the Raptors pick essentially being equivalent to a late 1st.

Unless we’re sending out shooting in another deal, we don’t have a need for another “shooter only” type on the roster. We already have THJ, Beasley, and (if he gets it together eventually) Fontecchio.

What we NEED is a ball handler and playmaker behind Cade. We’re wearing him out since Ivey went down.

Buddy’s a legit shooter but doesn’t solve our problem.

Schroeder can be moved again just before the trade deadline. He would make sense as a cheap Ivy patch that goes away in the offseason - available for just taking on his contract (more or less). Seems like a better fit to Detroit that Heild.

I'd take Tre Jones, but I'd only want to send out a fake SRP because we'd be absorbing the salary

I wouldn't take Micic; I'd rather fish in the GLeague for best PG available

Great idea

Schroeder would fit in DET's cap space; would be willing to offer a so-so SRP as well

Looney yes, Payton no

Here's the thing about the SRP's the Bulls lose theirs but have the SAC SRP so they add 2 more. Right now before other possible trades. They have a pretty full roster, Ball expiring and I think they want him back. Craig maybe traded, THT they might want back. Phillips and Buzellis are going to play more next year, so 3 SRP's in one draft, 2 of them for sure G League likely all 3. Is that very smart?

I'd be fine with this for GS, just to shake it up and see how it goes. We aren't selling the future, and we get a couple of healthy guys as slight u[grades. Might help us sneak into a playoff spot, so I'm fine with it from GS's end.

Payton is expiring, so easy enough to buy him out. I think it is smart for us to acquire as many picks. The Bulls have a lot of young players, but most of them aren't necessarily feeling like keepers. We need to cast a wide net and hope we hit gold.

Over the last 30 games, Hield averages 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 23.0 minutes per contest. He has shot 37.5 percent from the field and 32.8 percent on his 3-point tries over that stretch. More alarmingly, the Warriors have been outscored by 2.8 points per game during his minutes.

That doesn’t exactly give me confidence that he’ll help or that he’s worth Torontos second round pick

Micic, no thanks. Tre Jones is interesting as a potential low risk/decent reward option. But I’m not giving anything significant/worthwhile to get him for the Pistons. It’d have to be a 3+ team trade where the Spurs add someone they want, team x clears salary, Pistons take a look at Tre for the remainder of the season
