WIlliams to Lakers
Ill offer this idea for:
-Lakers to add a big
-Blazers land a 1st for Williams
To Los Angeles Lakers
-Robert Williams III (2 years, $25.7 million)
-2027 Portland 2nd round pick
-2031 Portland 2nd round pick
To Portland (waive Walker)
-Gabe Vincent (2 years, $22.5 million)
-Cam Reddish (1 year, $2.4 million)
-2031 Lakers 1st (some form of protection or extinguished)
Why?
-The Lakers use end of bench players/contracts to land a guy who could potentially start as they Lakers dont have any bigs under contract for next season.
-The Blazers clear up glut of 5s as they get back a distant protected 1st
-Lakers to add a big

Re: WIlliams to Lakers
From Portland point of view, can’t take on Gabe Vincent’s money and pay seconds for the chance at a Lakers pick or nothing if it falls under protection. If the Lakers pick was unprotected it’d be a risk for Lakers but fair with Rob plus seconds coming back. So no go on a protected pick

Re: WIlliams to Lakers
Very bad for the Lakers -- beyond the value of the 2031 pick, there is the opportunity cost of not being able to use it in a future trade for a star. No way they should lock-up that pick for a back-up center.

Pass for POR.
Too much for too little.
Too much for too little.

Re: WIlliams to Lakers
This is not a deal POR should pursue. If LAL wants to offer up a protected 1st that either descends in protections (1-14\1-8\1-3) or if unable to convey turns into multiple 2nd's, maybe that could work. But a 31' with protections that turns into nothing? I don't see them going for that.

I think a lot would be determined by the protections and how quickly it extinguishes to nothing. But it's not an immediate no from me.

What?
They get a 1st pick for a borderline cripple.
It's laughable how you value Portland's assets.

They give up two seconds, take on Vincent (to replace another cripple) for a first that they may not get?

RW3 and 2 SRP for a bad contract and pick that may not happen. One of us does overvalue assets and it isn’t me.

So what? What else are they going to use cap space on? It's Portland.
Potentially getting a first is worth it.

Re: WIlliams to Lakers
Those protections better be very light, because if we get no pick, we just paid for a player we are less interested in than RWIII. Or moderate protections and the removal of the 2nds going to the Lakers.

Giving up 2nds and giving away RWIII for potentially nothing of interest is not.

Of course you would say that.
Pass for POR.

That’s an easy yes for Portland. I’d throw those 2nds back in.

He's played 23 games in 2 seasons at Portland, he's worth nothing and the 2nds are worthless.

Guess POR may as well keep him.

Great logic, I agree. Any team with a good pending free agent should just trade him to the Clippers, as they are the LA team that's made the marquee free agent signings most recently!

Blazers can just keep their vets, they don’t have to just hand them away to the first takers

Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.
