Lakers - Hawks

Post#1 » by DanishLakerFan » Thu Jan 30, 2025 8:17 am

Lakers get: Larry Nance Jr. and Bogdan Bogdanovic + ____
Why? Nance who is a fan favorite would be amazing as a backup to and next to AD. Also, they gamble on Bogs getting back to the player he used to be in a new system/environment.

Hawks get: Rui + Gabe Vincent + Jalen Hood-Schifino + _____
Why? Bogdanovic has been horrible this season and is on a 3-yr 18M/yr deal. Nance is 3rd C behind Okongwu and Capela. They shave a year of salary off .Rui would help with depth and shooting in the frontcourt and Gabe would be a solid defender in the guard rotation. Also take a flier on JHS.

Not sure if the value is completely fair. Or if anyone needs to add something else?

Thoughts?

The last year of Bogdanovic's contract is a team option, so the Hawks wouldn't be saving a year in this deal.

Bogdan is kinda irrelevant for us with Knecht on the squad, and LNJ’s health isn’t reliable enough right now to be a worthwhile piece

I’d argue Vincent and Rui as a duo would have a lot more value to us, than the two guys we’re getting back

Bogi's 3rd year is a team option so it doesn't really save Atlanta any money. I think while Rui is a solid piece to add this year for depth due to JJ, I don't see him as replacing our current forward rotation. I know we need a backup PG but our offense has been struggling and Vincent would make it even worse, if that is even possible.

I saw some where online, can't remember where was a while back. That when you guys trade Capela If you do, It's more then likely you will use Nance as your center moving forward??

I'd be Intrigued with getting Nance.

Yes, he's expiring but they want to extend him. They value him as a positive mentor for the younger bigs/team and he's probably just as if not more effective big man coach than on staff.

Vincent’s been averaging 38% from three since the start of December, FWIW

This is clearly one of those deals where each team vastly prefers what they’ve already got, though
