Kings - Hawks - Pels - Spurs
Trying to piece together the SpURS REPORTER hypothetical proposed Deal. Something like this? Picks can be fluid.
Kings deal: De'Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter Trey Lyles, Colby Jones, Doug McDemott, McLauglin
Kings receive: Trae Young, Hunter, Sochan C. Zeller, Champanie, Mamukelashvili, 1st round pick
Spurs Deal: Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, Jeremy Sochan, champagnie, mamukelashvili, 3 first round picks
Spurs receive: DeAaron Fox, Kevin Huerter, Colby Jones, Doug McDermott, Jae Crowder
Hawks Deal: Trae Young, Hunter, Cody Zeller
Hawks receive: Brandon Ingram, Trey Lyles, Jared MacLauglin, 1st round pick
Pelicans Deal: Brandon Ingram
Pelicans receive: Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, Alex Len, 1st round pick
Kings get 2 win now pieces
Spurs get Fox without losing vassell or castle
Hawks move on from Young, get back 1 of their picks from SA, and add Ingram to see if he's a good fit while adding long term flexibility to their roster.
Pelicans get something back for Ingram and move below the luxury tax and add a pick to boot.

Very off on valuations for me. I don't think what Kings give is even enough for Trae alone. But then Kings get Hunter, Sochan, Champagnie, FRP on top? Too good for Kings here.

The only team I see really wanting more is Atlanta. Trae Young means quite a bit to their franchise. They're giving up their identity for Brandon Ingram, short term possibly.
Getting one of their own pick back is big but they'll be hoping to be able to draft another Trae Young.
I think they'd want two more picks.
I need a more detailed description of those picks that they'd be receiving too to push this over the finish line.

Fox doesnt have this kind of value. Why should he be so much more valuable then Trae, especially with his contract ending in 2026?
As i Pels fan i would probably do it if we could move Tre Jones for another small asset since we cant resign him.
Makes 0 sense for Atlanta.

Looks really bad for Atlanta.
But it Atlanta is taking that for Trae, why isn’t Trae a Pelican? Don’t even think this is assigning any value at all to Hunter.
Pels can finish the tank and go into next season with Trae, Trey, Herb, Zion, Missi starting, once Murray is back use him as a 6th man for the rest of the season… But instead they just take bad salary and a first?

This is really, really bad for Atlanta. Atlanta wouldn't be able to tank and add other assets due to only being in control of one of their firsts. This is essentially a salary dump of Trae and Hunter for a 1st.

It's terrible for ATL, and judging how the Spurs are operating, they are holding onto that 25 1st from the Hawks, which the Hawks will absolutely demand among other things in a Trae Young trade.

Not sure why we keep seeing deals valuing Fox >>> Trae. I'm not sold that's true under normal circumstances but its definitely not when the Kings are openly shopping Fox.
And that's before we get into just how hard it would be to pull off a deal of this magnitude with all these teams.

My values may be off. But I see a premise here and here's an interesting read on the premise...

I kind of feel like if the Spurs are willing to pay for Trae Young, they'll just take Young rather than add him to a Fox package. For all the chatter about the Fox wanting SA and the Spurs being interested now, there were very similar rumors last year about Trae and SA. I don't actually want either trade right now. I don't think either of them are the caliber of player where you think you can pair him with Wemby and have your championship foundation established. So I consider them pretty interchangeable and wouldn't want the team to pay more than they need to.

There is a huge hole there that would account for the need for a fourth team.
It’s abundantly clear here in Sac that moving off Fox makes Monk the full time starting PG. bringing in another small offense only PG makes zero sense and doesn’t at all fit Doug Christie’s philosophy.
Additionally the huge hole to fill is PF and size. That’s a given. It’s the reason why most of the SAS packages - regardless of their fans views of the talent/potential of their players - really make no sense for SAC. We need a starting caliber PF, and more size and length at the wing to compete now. With that we are a playoff level team with or without Fox and adding some picks for future solidifies a deal that is SAC fans can swallow without going down to G1C with pitchforks and torches.
I grant that Trae brings excitement and a stopgap in some ways. But even the article points out the holes and we would be talking about a regular season fun to watch super scoring squad that will not win playoff games. And the. We still face a max for a player that just doesn’t really fit.
