PHX/GSW/SAC - Kentucky backcourt, Durant returns

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Sat Feb 1, 2025 7:39 pm

Forgive me if I missed something legality wise I've been a bit out of the game and had to actually use the trade machine

Golden State trades

Andrew Wiggins
Buddy Hield
Gary Payton II
Jonathan Kuminga
Brandin Podziemski
2026 and 2028 unprotected firsts

Golden State gets
Kevin Durant
Doug McDermott
Jae Crowder

They go for it with Durant back. They clear a lot of salary going forward to afford it, and then try to get some buyout guys to make up for lost bodies. (Note - I decided to have them keep Anderson instead of Payton, but if they could do it with him instead if they wanted to clear max salary)

Phoenix trades

Kevin Durant

Phoenix gets

De'Aaron Fox
Gary Payton II

Phoenix retools with the well fitting Fox and Booker backcourt.

Sacramento trades

De'Aaron Fox
Doug McDermott
Jae Crowder

Sacramento gets

Andrew Wiggins
Buddy Hield
Jonathan Kuminga
Brandin Podziemski
2026 and 2028 GSW 1sts

Sacdramento gets some solid assets out of Fox.

Keep Buddy Hield as far away from the Kings as possible. And why wouldn't the Kings just trade for KD and cut GSW out.

They're not doing anything with Durant/Sabonis

I think I added too much salary for Kings in this and put them over the tax. Maybe Kuminga to 4th team for draft pick.

There is no world where Buddy would ever suit up for the Kings again.

Also no way that Vivek would sign off on a trade that send Durant to the Dubs making them better than us.

I always get a good laugh about trades between divisional rivals being proposed. I know this tends to happen with East teams but virtually never between West ones unless it’s like the Clips Utah one where one team completely sucks and the other is a solid playoff team.

And it’s still conference not divisional.

I'm just saying the KD part of the trade would get the Kings in the POs. That's what the organisation and fan base wants. Maybe Wigs and Kuminga can do that.

For the Kings right now if you want to go down that path, cut Buddy out of it and move Podz somewhere else. Don't need him. Keep Kuminga in there and Wigs too.
If you can get Podz somewhere else for a protected pick that would be good, or a young big.

Sabonis/KD/Murray/Monk is a really good four and you can flip Huerter and/or Demar for a better fitting piece if you wanted to.

But also - GSW should pay a lot for KD. But who are they bidding against here? To me this is like 5 real firsts of value? Don’t think both Podz and Kuminga are necessary and think it should be this year and 2027 first..

I'd be a lot more open to doing the KD deal and calling it a day.

That team is at least fun to watch the next 2-3 years

Flip Derozan into another forward and you have a good squad. Rui ?

Sabonis/Lyles
Durant/Rui
Keegan
Keon/Carter
Monk/

Durant has already shown extreme longevity to get this far, the team that trades for him should be trying to win the title this year or else it's not worth it and I don't see it for the Kings.

Who is the best win now two guard or small forward (really 2.5…) Sac can get for Demar and Carter? Or Demar and the 2027 first? Or Carter and the 2027 first, etc..

Sac would have to have that deal thought out IMO. You don’t trade for KD and not be ready to push in a bit. But maybe you rather give up your promising rookie versus picks from when you will likely be rebuilding..

Is it just Hunter? Is it Ingram? Back to talking about Cam Johnson?

Assuming Huerter is needed to match KD. Which needs a third team, either fully taking Huerter on for one of Phoenix’s firsts or a team willing to swap their overpaid up to 16.2 million dollar player for Huerter’s 16.8 million.. Like how many seconds to turn Josh Green into Huerter? Or maybe it’s tied it o a Nurk deal (Nurk to Washington, Huerter+Fox+Jonaa to Phoenix type set up..) seems easy/legal..
