Hawks/Lakers/Magic/Wolves/Blazers

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Sat Feb 1, 2025 1:41 pm

HAWKS
In:Randle/Hayes/JHS
Out:Capela/Bogdan

OO/Hayes
Randle/Nance
Hunter/Risacher
Daniels/Mathews
Trae/JHS

They do not have control of their selection neither this nor next year, they fill the huge hole that Johnson's injury leaves in PF with a former allstar. They do not spend future assets, nor do they become more expensive, while they remain competitive

LAKERS
In:Capela/Banton/Reath
Out: Hachimura/Wood/JHS/Hayes

AD/Capela
Lebron/Vandervilt
DFS/Knecht
Reaves/Reddish
Vincent/Banton

They get the solid veteran center they're looking for and a couple of cheap, useful role players. They save money for next year.

MAGIC
In:Bogdanovic
Out:Harris/Mo Wagner

Goga/Isaak/WCJ
Banchelo/Isaak
Wagner/Silva
KCP/Bogdan
Suggs/CAntonhy/Black

They obtain the shooter they are missing, without spending assets, or sending any young people
They can probably bring Mo back in the offseason

WOLVES
In:J.Grant/Wood
Out:Randle

Gobert/Wood
Grant/Reid
McDaniels/Naw
Edwards/Donte
Conley/Dillingham

Grant is a better fit...although his contract is longer, they save a few million this and next year (I assume Randle opts to participate)

BLAZERS
In: Hachimura/Wagner/Harris
Out:J.Grant/Reath/Banton

They get a younger wing, which could be part of the future core, while reducing expenses practically by half

For something this big its not too bad. I think it makes reasonable sense for everyone but Minnesota who simply can't afford Grant long-term.

Trade in general doesnt look that bad but as someone already wrote Wolves cant afford Grant for 4 years. I think they will more go in direction to split Randle into couple role players. Backup center(Reid as starter) and a wing for Randle is something they will need to do for finances to work.
Also Grant is not that great of a player. He was putting up the stats on bad teams untill he got overpayed, now he is not even doing that.

magic cant afford his money next yr with his injury history and rather bring back moe next yr...and no can not afford both ..without moving a few players under contract next yr..harris is not one of them..and not worth money ,tax and assets to do that

Wolves traded KAT to reduce their payroll, they can't revert that for much lesser player in Jerami Grant.
Wolves can take Hachimura and use Pistons 1st to dump Harris/Wagner, and save a fortune.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Clear no for Minnesota. There's not much appeal for a deal that makes the team worse in the short term while also being absolutely brutal for their long term financial situation.

I can see Grant as a different fit but I'm not entirely sure I'd say better. He is a better defender and outside shooter, but he's a worse rebounder and on ball creator -- 2 areas the wolves don't exactly thrive in to begin with right now.

Plus his contract makes this a pretty firm No.

This.

Feels like the Wolves are here just so that the Hawks don't have to eat Grant's contract. I'd just cut the Wolves out

Cut Minnesota out. Don’t want Grant.
