Vucevic to Warriors, Hield to Pistons: Warriors/Bulls/Pistons

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Mon Feb 3, 2025 4:23 am

Now that the hat has fallen on the LaVine deal and the Bulls seem like they want to keep their 2025 1st by being a bottom 10 team, ill offer this idea

To Golden State (Trade Looney, Payton, Hield, protected 1st)
-Nikola Vicevic (2 years, $41.5 million)
-Javon Carer (1 year, $6.5 million plus P.O.)
-2027 Pistons 2nd round pick
-2028 Kings 2nd round pick via Bulls
-2029 Bulls 2nd round pick

To Chicago (Trade Vucevic, Carter, 2 2nds)
-Kevon Looney (1 year, $8 million)
-Gary Payton Jr. (1 year, $9.1 million)
-2028 Golden State 1st round pick (lottery protected or 2030 2nd round pick)

To Detroit (Trade 2nd)
-Buddy Hield (4 year, $37.7 million)

Why?
-The motive for Bulls now is to try to keep their 1-10 protected 2025 1st as they deal Vucevic and create even more off-season flexibility as they Bulls look to re-tool after LaVine deal
-The Warriors swap Looney for Vucevic, Payton for Carter and can backfill Hield with a veteran minimum contract. At the expense of adding a starting 5 it costs Warriors a protected 1st for 3 2nds in return
-The Pistons add a veteran shooter off bench for a distant 2nd in teveraging their cap space.

Post Curry/Near retirement Steph picks for Vuc? Never ever.

Heck I'd be pissed if we traded our 2025 pick. Time to tank, let Steph recover from his thumb/knee issues and have young guys get playing time.

Take out the 1st from GS. Adding the extra year's contract from Vuc and Carter is the main value GS would give Chicago. Maybe 2nd(s) if GS has them left.

Also, send Schroeder to Detroit in place of Heild. He actually makes sense there as a stop-gap Ivy replacement for the rest of the season who then goes away.

Are the Warriors potentially a lottery team in 2027-28 season?. Maybe so the 1st might not even convey as they give up a 2030 2nd to get 3 in return to take that degree of risk for a lottery protected pick for 1 year.

So you agree then the Warriors will be a lottery team at 2028 draft?

I would be surprised if we weren't, that's age 40 Steph in the playoffs and the team is average at best now.

“ Marc Stein: League sources say that the Warriors did seriously explore trade constructions that would have brought both Zach LaVine and Nikola Vučević to the Bay Area before Golden State opted to focus on other trade pursuits”

Copied from hoopshype.

Also I imagine any deal that sends Vuc to the Warriors without 2 picks dumps PWill on the Warriors.

I would definitely do this part of the deal:
Buddy Hield to DET for 2027 DET 2nd.

That should get the dubs really close to the tax line.
Look for a buyer for Draymond and Wiggins to reduce salary and add draft capital. We'll still be .500 after doing all this but we'll be .500 with more draft capital and some financial flexibility.

No interest in that from Detroit. As another poster mentioned, Shroeder would make sense for us, though.

The Bulls have their pick back so part of the motivation in moving Vuc changes,

Looney for one year is fine, Payton is going to get bought out as the Bulls have no more need for him than they do Carter. I think the protection on the pick needs to be 1-10 at worst since it's WAY in the future, after the Steph era is over so let's put the value on it in today's trade world when it's aiming at helping GSW win another title.
