Think you should m rephrase this.

If Hornets balked at the 2031 first, fans should be very upset.

But if Phoenix wasn’t willing to pay that valuable an asset obviously, and CLT was able to circle back and get good value? CLT won two trades as everyone feels they did?

it's much more likely the Suns didn't want to unload their only asset to dump Nurkic, and splitting one pick into three lower value picks was the move that allowed them to make the move.

Yeah. Agree 100%. And love both trades for CLT.

Just seems weird to say CLT balked. They won both trades. They won all three trades they made really. Theres plenty of rotation centers to plug/play and go into next season with the hope of winning 40+ games.

Think you should rephrase this if it matters?

If Hornets balked at the 2031 first, fans should be very upset. That’s an insane asset to turn down for a salary dump..

But if Phoenix wasn’t willing to pay that valuable an asset (obviously) and CLT was able to circle back and get good value? CLT won two trades as everyone feels they did.. CLT fans should be happy

Yeah, the Suns only had one first at the time of the Richards trade when Phoenix wanted Martin included. So they couldn't include that 2031 1st, and without a 1st attached Hornets balked at taking Nurkic.

So we got Okogie which freed up our ability to shop Cody Martin, circled back to Phoenix when they acquired 3 firsts for that 2031 1st. We dumped Micić, and accepted Nurkic attached to a 1st.

When the original rumor had Nurkic coming (not Okogie) and no 1st, I insisted it should cost the Suns one first to move Nurkic. I can see why Charlotte took Okogie instead, refusing Nurkic in the raw the first time around.

The full deal is Richards & Martin & Micic for Nurkic & Okogie + 2026 1st + 2031 Suns 2nd + 2031 Nuggets 2nd.

When viewed in totality you can see how the Hornets capitalized on a desperate team whose primary plan/path of improvement collapsed on every front.

I mean they won both trades whether you combine them or not?

I just said you should rephrase “CLT balked at” since it makes it sound like the 2031 first was ever on the table. But you don’t have to. It doesn’t really matter..

They balked at taking Nurkic without a 1st. They took Okogie for Richards instead.

They then accepted Nurkic with a 1st, and surrendered Cody, but also dumped Micić who turned out to play as if he were sloppy drunk.

Yes they won both trades.

And put Phoenix in their place after the Suns' lowball opening offer.

The Hornets are accumulating quite a war chest. They need only get off their wallets, pay a scouting staff, and stop worrying about pundit chatter/appearances.

Seems like that's the approach they took last draft when they took Salaun

Hence, the scouting department.
