And that's not a bad idea SNPA unless he is worried he needs to cash in big this offseason on a longer/bigger deal.

But as Scoot said, do you think a team gives him more than the $5m price tag? I guess that might depend if he shows out for Sacramento, but his play in Memphis was solid too. Looks 50/50 for mine.

They can use their MLE on him right? Don’t see why they would not be but know there’s some strict restriction on the next salary..

They have non qualified Bird Rights, so they can sign him to a new contract up to what his 4th year option would have been without having to use an exception. So, they can sign him up to $5.163m and still maintain their MLE.

But also, is Jake LaRavia likely to get more than $5m next year in free agency?

Ill say a guy in his situation is probably looking at situation over dollar value. I'd imagine he'd turn down nominal difference in money for a situation that will allow him to showcase himself to earn a bigger contract in the future.

Fully agree. And (unless I'm mistaken) Sac can offer him a 1+1(PO) so that he has a little protection if it doesn't work out. If he is fitting in well I fully expect him to stay in Sac.

He isnt just a shooter. His passing this year has been great for his size / usage and he is a + defender by all advanced metrics. His on/off numbers are wildly good.

The risk with Jake is that the sample size is small, but I am expecting him to get offers well above 5M. 6'8, decently young, can play SF and PF, breakout shooting and passing year, excellent advanced stats for a role player. A team will pay - guys his size that can shoot, defend and pass are in huge demand around the league. Again, the risk is this year is an anomoly / small sample size but we have seen guys get paid for less who have shown less.

He has an archetype that a contending team will salivate over IMO - especially teams that are not asset rich and have less routes to add a role playing rotation guy (A squad like the Lakers, Boston, etc)

I don't know anyone who said he would return a 1st. Maybe you have him confused with Aldama?

This. I think he’s a rental. Because of course Monte wouldn’t trade for a wing he can actual keep.
