Wolves/Lakers...Gobert to Lakers with Nets
NETS
In: Vincent/Maxi/Lakers 31(unp)
Out:worst FRP available 2025
tons of cap space early in their rebuild and facing a poor FA, they use some of their cap space on the worst of their 3 2025 FRPs and Sharpe (before extending) to get an unprotected future... they could also get some extra assets for Vincent in the offseason
WOLVES
In: Vandervilt/Sharpe/Knecht
Out:Gobert
Wolves stick to Ant's schedule.. Get value for their center who will be 33 next season..Get 2 solid young players and open up room to facilitate extensions for NAW and Reid..
LAKERS
In:Gobert/Worst FRP 25(by Nets)
Out: Vandervilt/Maxi/Vincent/Lakers 31/Knecht
Lakers aiming high..to get the best possible center to win now and take advantage of Lebron's window..
Thoughts on value?

Re: Wolves/Lakers...Gobert to Lakers with Nets
The problem for the Nets are the multi year contracts as they’re one of the few teams with masses of cap space
Probably more attractive to them after they test the FA market

If Maxi and Vincent expire.. they basically move part of the space to sl 26 and get paid for it

Not sure that it’s their plan but we’re supposed to be tanking & keep winning
Only the Nets

Re: Wolves/Lakers...Gobert to Lakers with Nets
I’m not sure why MIN would consider this. They have 3.5 playable bigs for two positions, then a huge drop. They don’t have a true back up center on the roster (Naz is now more of a big wing) and paying Sharpe on a new deal to be their new starting center is very risky. MIN is an elite defensive team with Gobert, and even defensive try-hards like Naz Reid put up good defensive numbers now that they know how to play with Rudy. Gobert renounced an expensive player option for next year to extend three years at a lower number that the Wolves really needed.
However, I don’t know what the new owners will do.

This looks like Minnesota getting screwed here.
They need several picks to get close to appropriate value imo.

Re: Wolves/Lakers...Gobert to Lakers with Nets
Minnesota punts the near term without getting long-term assets worth a damn?
It definitely would be the opposite of what we have seen from their franchise over the past few seasons, that is for sure. I also think many Center-needy teams would bid more than this for Gobert, who is still a very good defensive player in the NBA.
Seems way too good for the Nets and Lakers, no?

Wolves don’t do this. As others have stated the value is off and it leaves the Wolves without anything close to a center on the roster.

I admit the value could be wrong, but the idea was to free up salary, save +- 25 million dollars (to extend NAW/Reid and still stay away from the 2nd apron) while getting 2 more players... Gobert will start at 33 years old next year and the Wolves have regressed a bit this year, I thought it would be a good idea to move him while he still has positive value,.. but I hear you...
what would you think about this...
NETS
In: Vincent/Vandervilt/Maxi/Knecht/Lakers 31
Out: Claxton /Worst FRP 25
They free up even more cap space (move him to 2026), get a first-year prospect, and trade a late first-round pick for an unprotected future.
WOLVES
In:Claxton
Out:Gobert
They get younger and save around 10 million..to re-sign NAW

Why are the Wolves here? Just make it Claxton and change for the Lakers package?
Lakers probably prefer that anyways.
I also have Gobert > Claxton so this again is short for Minnesota, but you got the deal you wanted here.
Claxton + 2025 1st for Salary + 2031 1st

If you're right, much simpler and more realistic... I got confused... it was getting the best player, even if he was older, for LeBron's last run... and the Wolves reorganizing in Ant's timeline

Not every team is as stupid as Dallas and willing to gift the Lakers superior players for garbage. This is terrible for Minnesota and Bkn

That is most certainly NOT value for Gobert.
Minny chose keeping Rudy over Kat. They aren't suddenly going to gift him to the Lakers, regardless of what happened with Luka.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

Thanks for your reply.. Could you argue why it's terrible for the Nets? I'm interested in your opinion.

Re: Wolves/Lakers...Gobert to Lakers with Nets
Isnt sharpe a RFA this offseason? If so, whats the deal you think he agrees to that gives him positive value? Otherwise the only value they get is Knecht. I would want nothing to do with Vandos contract going forward. Hes had foot injuries now in high school college and the NBA. For a guy that relies on athleticism over skill (and is already a bit of a tough fit as essentially an undersized 5 on offense) I wouldn't want to bet on that if i didn't have to.
For the Lakers, it's the Mark Williams package of expirings (maxi and Gabe this offseason) knecht 31 1st but no 30 swap and dumping vandos 2+1 yrs left, while getting back a better player now and a 1st?

Part of it is still bitterness as a former fan of the Mavs for 30+ years, so you'll have to excuse me there.
But Maxi and Vincent ate dreadful these days, so Nets paying any kind of first for an unprotected pick a team in LA and Luka, don't think it's good for them. Lakers owe more if they get to dump 3 bad contracts
