I would not.

Ayton is a ~$18M to $20M player. He contributes and is well liked on the team.

Id rather 'over pay' him by $15M and get some use out of him than to pay him $25M not to play

wouldnt' you rather free up more minutes for Clingan though (i would)? the 10M cash saved can be used to buy multiple second round picks

Clingan’s just like Duren right now… if you try to play the guy 32 minutes, he’s going to foul out half the time.

Clingan has good potential but outside of rebounding and being massive, he is still behind and developing.

If you watch Ayton, especially when he's not sulking, Blazers get 20/10 out of him while he's only taking 12 to 14 shots a game. Blazers are struggling right now with Clingan, but when Ayton is playing motivated the Blazers look very good.

And if Lakers get Ayton, might as well give them the championship because Luka is exactly the player that will use Ayton best.

Yeah, I think by year 4 or 5, he will be like Zubac. Reliable big man both ends.
