CHI - MIA - SAC

Post#1 » by bpcox05 » Sun Mar 2, 2025 9:09 pm

—————————

CHI GETS: Terry Rozier & 2026 CHA 2nd
CHI GIVES: Zach Collins & Lonzo Ball
WHY FOR CHI? The Bulls sell of Ball for an attractive 2nd rounder as they continue their rebuild.

PG - White / Carter / Rozier
SG - Dosonmu / Huerter
SF - Giddey / Terry
PF - Buzelis / Williams / Phillips
C - Vucevic / Smith

—————————

MIA GETS: Malik Monk & Zach Collins
MIA GIVES: Terry Rozier, Nikola Jovic, & Kevin Love
WHY FOR MIA? The Heat add a win now PG who is just entering his prime and on a very reasonable contract. For what it’s worth, he’s also very good friends with Adebayo. Collins gives them some C depth but he’s an expiring to help keep their books relatively clean.

PG - Monk
SG - Herro / Jaquez / Larsson
SF - Wiggins / Robinson / Johnson
PF - Ware / Highsmith / Anderson
C - Adebayo / Collins

—————————

SAC Gets: Lonzo Ball, Nikola Jovic, & Kevin Love
SAC Gives: Malik Monk & 2026 CHA 2nd
Why for SAC? The Kings really need to get away from their lineup of 4 high usage, offensive players who are also not good defensively. Swapping Ball for Monk not only gives them another good defender in the starting lineup but it gives them a true PG that can run the offense and setup the rest of the team. Jovic gives them a young, promising PF who has good size/length. He’s also a good shooter and passer who I think is underrated defensively.

PG - Ball / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis
SF - Murray / DeRozan
PF - Jovic
C - Sabonis / Valanciunas / Love

If Ball wasn’t a huge injury risk…maybe. But he is and I see the odds Monte bets his career on Ball playing as being zero.

I like the concept of moving on from Monk and LaVine/Monk have overlapping skill-sets, overlapping weaknesses and LaVine is strictly a better basketball player.

Jovic/Ball are two lower-end rotation pieces to break Monk into and is around his value while maintaining the juicy assets for a larger fish if available down the road.

For Miami, I like Herro a lot off ball and I would question the fit of Monk. Perhaps this needs a different 3rd team?

Chicago gets KCP, DEN 2025 1st, CHA 2026 2nd
Orlando gets Monk, Collins
Sacramento gets Ball, Jett

Chicago gets McCollum, Future 2nd
New Orleans gets Monk, Collins
Sacramento gets Ball, Hawkins

If Ball wasn’t a huge injury risk, then you’re not getting him for this package to begin with. Besides, I have Jovic as more value than Ball in the deal.

Ball, LaVine, Ellis, & Carter is a really solid guard rotation (In admittedly high on Carter though), and if Ball goes down with an injury, you still have those remaining 3 guards to lean on.

No, we're not trading our 6th man, who happens to be our big man depth, for a guard who does the same things as Herro but worse.

I wouldn’t mind adding Valanciunas to the deal and bringing back Isaac from ORL instead (and maybe Jalen Smith as well since it should work salary wise). Monk/Valanciuans for Ball/Smith/Isaac is a HUGE defensive upgrade for the Kings. I’d imagine it’d be something like…

—————————

CHI GETS: Jonas Valanciunas & Anthony Black
CHI GIVES: Lonzo Ball & Jalen Smith

PG - White / Black / Carter
SG - Dosonmu / Huerter
SF - Giddey / Terry
PF - Buzelis / Williams / Phillips
C - Vucevic / Valanciunas / Collins

—————————

ORL GETS: Malik Monk
ORL GIVES: Jonathan Isaac & Anthony Black

PG - Monk / Anthony / Joseph
SG - Suggs / KCP / Harris
SF - Wagner / Howard / Houstan
PF - Banchero / Da Silva
C - Carter / Bitadze / Wagner

—————————

SAC Gets: Jonathan Isaac, Lonzo Ball, & Jalen Smith
SAC Gives: Malik Monk & Jonas Valanciunas

PG - Ball / Carter
SG - LaVine / Ellis
SF - DeRozan
PF - Murray / Smith
C - Sabonis / Isaac

The Bulls don't just say No, they run like heck to get away from it.

They have 9 guards now and 8 under contract including Ball for next year, why are they trading a center who they've seen can play and one of their few PGs and best team leader for another guard who is a shoot first and undersized, not a leader and a SRP? This is awful stay out of CHI.

that second long thought out deal above,,,is worse

Bulls don’t have 8 guards under contract next season. They have 6…

Coby White
Jevon Carter
Ayo Dosonmu
Lonzo Ball
Kevin Huerter
Dalen Terry

It should also be clear that Terry Rozier is strictly an expiring considering what is going on with his personal life. Also, if it’s that big of a deal, I don’t see an issue with swapping out Zach Collins for Kevin Huerter (they’re both expirings and basically make the same amount).

I don't think this is particularly close for the Bulls. Hollinger reported that they declined an offer that included a first at the deadline, so a 2nd and expiring I don't think is in the ballpark.
