Dallas Durant

Post#1 » by NYG » Tue Mar 18, 2025 12:49 am

Dallas Mavericks get:
Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns get:
P.J. Washington
Daniel Gafford
Klay Thompson
Naji Marshall
13th Overall Draft Pick
2029 Unprotected Los Angeles Lakers First Round Draft Pick

I think this is about the best offer the Suns could get if they intend to retool around Devin Booker. It gives them a hybrid of a deeper core now while also providing some future assets

The Mavericks are dug in unless they fire Nico. Getting KD with AD and eventually Kyrie could win it all if it hits right and they kind of backed themselves into a corner... unless they fire Nico.

If Dallas is truly offering this, Phoenix should take it without any hesitation and thank the gods Nico is still obviously running things for Dallas.

I'm not entirely sure that Lakes pick is needed but I understand why it feels like it should be included. If Dallas offers this, PHX should take it and RUN.

All the salary is good to neutral and thus I wouldn't think it costs both picks.

And for those who claim players who would all be top 7 and at least two of them starters for Phoenix hold no value then let dallas move them for value and send worse salary to Phoenix with Dallas keeping the profit.

Durant is going to choose his team. And if it's Dallas getting those players and either pick is enough.

And if it's not Dallas then it's not.

Dallas keeps one of the picks...and with Marshall, instead sends Hardy/Powell to someone's cap space (Nets) and takes care of the necessary compensation (SRP? Or Max?). The Suns get a few million in cap relief and continue sending G. Allen (not needed with Klay) to the Magic or Houston for more savings. They decline the Micic/Martin options...
save a ton in taxes and could use the full MLE to sign a guard in FA like Russell, a good friend of Booker.

The Suns hang up the Mavs' lottery pick to trade Beal.
