Gap was already smaller because Lively can't stay healthy.

But let's see Hayes anchor a playoff defense on a deep run. Any number of guys can be the roll man with Luka lol. Including Christian Wood and Dwight Powell. What made Lively potentially valuable was the defense.

Now I know the Lakers defense has been good and Hayes has been part of that, but thats without the gameplanning teams will definitely have for him. If he holds up, yeah he's made himself a bunch of money and good on him.

DFS won't be traded, his friends with Luka and they got him mostly for that reason and his defense.

They traded for DFS at a point when they couldn't have possibly imagined getting Luka.

Now I agree they are boys and he's unlikely to be traded, but they didn't trade for Doe Doe to lure Luka lol.

I absolutely love the idea of Reaves++ for Suggs. The other stuff that can change hands that also fits (Goga in LA, Knecht in ORL) makes it even better. LA just needs to pony up the value difference in picks and it’s a winner.

Yeah, I know Austin wanted LA, but he also probably envisioned himself getting handed the keys to the offense once LeBron retired. Now that that won’t happen, getting to play starting PG in Orlando probably sounds pretty good.

Anthony Black has a lot to prove yet, but he CAN fill Suggs’ shoes. I believe in that kid.

Not enough Lakers 1sts to get Suggs for Reeves' expiring I would imagine.

Austin Reaves does not get you Derek Lively. Lively was the 12th pick in the draft and has shown a lot of upside as player. I agree that the Lakers would need to trade to Austin this off season for a better fitting player, but Lively or guys like that are very unrealistic targets. I thinking more in the lines Wendel Carter Jr/KCP or someone else like that. Someone who's on long term deal that's productive, but overpaid.

Lively is about to play less than 60 games in a season for his first 2 seasons in the league. Only so much value can be kept from your pre-draft status.

If Derek Lively value has truly diminished to the point he's worth only expiring contracts and a 1st round pick, there's simply no benefit to trading him at all. Selling Lively at his lowest value would make already a horrible situation for the Mavericks even worse. He/AD would be a perfect fit next to eachother on defense when healthy.

I don't like this for the Magic. If they are giving up draft capital for someone who doesn't play defense, it better be for someone who's great on offense, otherwise there's no point and are simply overpaying for no reason. Anfernee Simons is a far better target if a 1st round pick is going to be sent out for non defensive player.
