SAC/PHX/ORL…BIG names shuffled

Post#1 » by Skybox » Sat Mar 29, 2025 12:28 pm

SAC sends: Sabonis, Devin Carter
SAC gets: Kevin Durant, ORL 25 frp #15
Why- SAC stacks up elite offensive vets that score from everywhere on the floor and get a nice frp this year. Instantly, they are the most explosive, exciting offensive team in the league. They look for a defensive C like Capela or Adams to ring-chase on a moderate deal.

PHX sends: Durant
PHX gets: Suggs, WCJ, DEN 25 frp
Why- younger and better-balanced plus a pick for a guy who WILL be leaving and has the leverage to ensure it’s to a good situation. A Suggs/Booker/Beal backcourt with a real 2-way Center and Dunn is substantial. If they can figure a Beal deal for role players and a little sense of roster flexibility, they can contend quickly if Book shifts into full-ownership of the team and MVP talk. Suggs generates as much full-court intensity as anyone and his defensive mayhem is contagious.

ORL sends Suggs, WCJ, DEN 25 frp, ORL 25 frp
ORL gets Sabonis, Devin Carter
Sending Suggs out is heartbreaking, but you can only have so many guys making $30m+ in todays CBA and Black’s emerging as a similar player. Plus, KCP is already there so, while Suggs is certainly the best & brightest among them, the redundancy makes him the best trade chip too. Sabonis brings elite rebounding, scoring & ball movement to the best young forward tandem in the league. ORL banks on Sabonis unlocking ORL’s offense with veteran court vision and rewarding cutters & finishers. Carter joins the other dawgs in ORL’s backcourt and, hopefully develops complementary offensive skills. Goga & Isaac are deployed whenever needed as defensive role players around ORL’s unprecedented 6’10 versatile, super-skilled frontcourt. Mosely is a tremendous defensive coach to scheme around his unusual lineup. Offense will take care of itself.

I don’t get the direction for the Kings. I think Durant needs to go elsewhere.

Ya less than zero interest in trading sabonis + carter for durant.

The only scenario where durant makes sense is based around lavine and a boat load of picks. If we are getting durant we at least need somewhat of a team in place to attempt to compete.

Caveat here. I'd be okay cutting out Phx.

Sabonis for Suggs + Filler + picks

In a world where the Kings actually rebuild, Suggs isn't good enough to stop the tank. And I'd be super excited about a Keon, Carter, Suggs back court. Bunch of defensive first guys.

Did you see the Magic's offense this year?

Have you seen the kings post trade? We suck on both ends. The team needs to blow up, suggs is only 23, young enough to keep during a rebuild

Is Suggs really a big name of the caliber of Sabonis and Durant?

Didn’t say THAT…but he’s as impactful a defender as anyone and he shot 40% from 3 on pretty high volume last season…and he’s much younger

Can’t keep up with the “kids” you brought in this year…Lavine & DDR? I’d say you and your FO aren’t seeing the same vision

He’s too old for a lot of teams’ timeline…but questioning whether he’s still great is just silly. He’d likely be the best player on 25 teams and his game isn’t really that dependent on youthful athleticism.

Struggling this year…26.8ppg, 6 Rebs, 4.3 apg, 52.7% overall, 43.1% from 3, 36.8 mpg…give it up Grandpa

He’ll be 37 next year

That means you can’t count on anything

Lebron still doing it, but he’s a specimen

We want a base to watch this team for years to come

That’s what YOU want…explain DDR & Lavine.

Durant makes any decent team a contender…if not for Beal handcuffs, PHX could reconfigure a more balanced roster. ORL is one of very few that just doesn’t make sense…Paolo & Franz are forwards and KD cant play guard or center

Someone during the game thread said that post Allstar that Sabonis is averaging 11/10. I would be afraid to trade for him in fear of a secret injury. That is not good.

I don't see the age as a problem if we could acquire him while keeping Sabonis. Durant is my favorite all in move for an aging Sac team that's been terrible forever.

Have a 2-3 year window with Demar-Keegan-Durant-Sabonis. Probably not a real title contender, but could be a top 4 seed for 2 years and maybe get a 2nd round appearance, 3rd round if things break perfectly.

The OP leaves us with Monk-Lavine-Demar-Durant. I can't imagine any fan wants to watch these 4 guys take turns while the organization tries to shift Keegan to being a center lol.

Not a secret injury. He pulled his hamstring 1 minute into the rockets game and missed 6-7 games, rushed back to try and help the team. Played 1 game, the second game he got elbowed in the face and had to get stiches, came back and twisted his ankle and left 2nd quarter. Looked really bad, initial optimistic result was re-evaluate in 10 days. But Sabonis is an Ox and came back after 6 days (he shouldn't have).

Also the numbers you quoted are march numbers, where he played 7 games spanned in between two injuries. However 1 of those games he went out in the first minute, the other he played 12 minutes. If you remove those two games, he actually played 5 games in march averaging 15-14-6. Not great, but spanned between a hammy injury + bad ankle twist + watching Demar/Lavine brick the team out of games. It's definitely not been a Sabonis issue.
