SA-Miami-Chi

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sat Apr 5, 2025 7:59 am

Chi sends Vuc to SA and JCarter/Port pick to Miami
Chi gets Rozier/GS pick

SA sends Barnes to Miami
SA gets Vuc

Miami sends Rozier and GS pick to Chi
Miami gets Barnes/JCarter/Port pick

Assuming the Bulls pick Queen, Newell, Maluach/Sorber. They already have Collins/Smith, and would need minutes for their young big. They also add a pick now

I think SA wants to win next year and they need a real back up center. Vuc could even play a bit with Wemby. Also, it assumes they draft a forward who will need Barnes' minutes (they have 2 top 15 picks coming)

Miami will probably owe an unprotected pick to OKC next year, so they have 0 incentive to miss the playoffs. Barnes is a nice rotation guy at the 4/3 and they move the GS pick for the Port pick

I don't think this makes sense for any of the teams, especially Chicago.

- Rozier goes to an overcrowded Bulls backcourt that will have Ball, I assume Coby White, Josh Giddey, Dosunmu, and Heurter. It would make a little more sense if it were Duncan Robinson or K Anderson going to the Bulls. But then why would Chicago not just take Barnes who would seemingly be a great fit for Chicago?

- For SA, why add Vucevic when a Wemby/Collins duo at center, plus Sochan as a small-ball center, seemingly has them covered?

- For Miami, I really like Barnes and Carter, so I think Miami comes out of this deal better off regardless of whether or not it were Robinson, Anderson, or Rozier headed out. Using the proposed deal, Miami's frontcout is jam packedt: Adebayo, Ware, Jovic, Wiggins, Highsmith, Kyle Anderson, Jaquez, and K Love. Even if you have Highsmith play exclusively at guard and assume K Love will be Miami's Haslem, you still have 6 players vying for minutes without adding Barnes.

For SA, they traded Collins to the Bulls so they do need a backup. I'm not sure Vuc is the great option but if Barnes becomes expendable due to draft pick additions then that seems fine.

For Chicago I think the OP wants the better pick and isn't planning on Rozier mattering on the court, though their forward rotation is weak enough Barnes would be useful.

I'm with SA37 on this one. To add, this seems like including an asset, which we need if we're going to add a star player, for a moderate upgrade... Maybe? Like SA said, where's he going to play? We have Ware, Bam, Jovic, Wiggins, Highsmith, SloMo, and Jacquez, all of whom are deserving of time. Where does he fit?

Meanwhile, we have no starting point guard and no star player. So why are we putting assets in to this?

The Spurs don't need Vuc at his price to be a back-up 5.

I don't think either Barnes, Carter or the Portland 1st are all that valuable and none warrant the GSW 1st.

Barnes is still a solid player, but I will look for another 3rd team since Miami seems to have the frontcourt covered
I had the Bulls taking Rozier to match salaries-he could also play when needed and is expiring next year. With Giddey, Matas, PWill, Phillips, Terry we have forwards. I also think JSmith should play some 4. We'd have Collins and the rookie #11 pick plus Smith at center too, and Huerter/Ball play the 3 for us sometimes.

I figured maybe Miami sometimes wants to play big lineups of Herro/Wiggins/Barnes/Bam/Ware

Would LAL want Barnes/Port pick for Kleber/Knecht as the 3rd team?

The Bulls like the part where they move on from Vucevic and Carter.

Swapping the lottery protected for 3 more years PORT pick fora sure thing current GSW pick isn't all that great. The Bulls right now have their own lottery pick and no playing time for a 2nd rookie with the number of players they have under contract. If they move the pick now it would be best for someone who is a step UP from who they have now. Otherwise the bet that PORT improves, maybe to 15-20 when they may have roster space for 2 rookies.

Getting Rozier is just a bad move. He takes Carter's role on the bench for triple the money, not one thing smart about that. Rozier is more of a Me First player, the Bulls have found that willing passers and team players like Huerter, Tre Jones, Ball, and Collins win them more games.

Why wouldn't we just do that with Jovic or SloMo? We have, in fact, done that with Jovic.

Spurs do need a backup center, but one who can protect the rim in the non Wemby minutes. Zach Collins didn't cut it because of his defense, you think Vucevic would?

Also, Barnes has been very good all around and especially from 3, hitting 42.3% on good volume. He's also a very positive influence on the young core, and has contributed to the community. I very much doubt Spurs want to get rid of him, and I very much doubt he wants to leave the team. It's not impossible he gets included in a trade, but if that's the case I suspect it's a much larger one where a star is coming back, not Vucevic.

This doesn't make any sense for the Spurs.
