Simple Chi-Port Deal

Post#1 » by pipfan » Thu Apr 10, 2025 5:31 am

Bulls swap #12 for #9 and return Port their pick
This assumes the Bulls like someone at #9-I think Newell would be a great fit and might not last until 12

Port gets their pick back to move down a bit. I think Demin might be a good play for them, and he should be there at #12

Im down with this.

Would Chicago be interested in expanding the trade a bit?
Maybe Grant for Heurter + Smith?

Would rather bank on the slim chance the Portland pick conveys than use it to move up 3 spots, it's just pointless from a Chicago point of view.

If Spurs targets are gone (probably Tre Johnson or Knueppel) I'd probably offer Spurs own (8th) for the Bulls (12th) + Blazers future FRP. Maybe Bulls could be interested in a high upside prospect like Fears or Queen. I'm not a fan of Newell or Demin, but they probably are available wherever Bulls end up picking, so no need to move up if they are the Bulls' target.

It's very situational, if you truly believe in some prospect (like Rockets did in Sengun, for instance) then I don't think it's pointless. Otherwise yeah, you keep both picks.

This pick could convey as soon as next year, 2026 draft is meant to be deeper than this year. As in the first 20 picks. Rather keep it tbh.

Depends on how much Portland likes somebody at 9 that wouldn’t be available at 12.

I've had this same idea in mind. I would be happy with this as it unencumbers all of our future picks to go after an alpha like Giannis.

This from the guy who looked at PORT finally making the strides to get out of the lottery.

I don't think anybody sees this as an 8 or 9 player deep draft with a big drop off that makes it worth it to the Bulls to move up 3 or4 slots to get somebody that would easily be there at #12 or some equal talent that they see. Look at the last draft, Stacey King saying he had Matas Buzelis in the top 5 and he fell to the Bulls at #11. Turn it around would (your team here) be willing to give up a pick to move up 3-4 slots? Who do you overrate to that degree?

If there's a real trade with PORT to be made, not a Grant bailout or the other Blazer theft suggested, the Bulls could use the 9 for 12 plus the pick return to account for the talent and contracts involved. But at this point the Bulls need room to resign Giddey this summer, at a minimum Coby White next summer so taking back any long term deal is not happening. No way they want Grant when Buzelis is looking like their PF for a long time.

Of course, this works if Chi likes someone, and Port isn't sold on anyone.

If SA wants to go to 12 from 8 for the pick, even better

Yeah, can't really see the value for CHI in this draft unless they REALLY fall in love with a player and that player is projected to go earlier. I actually think that Fears would be a good move for CHI. In 3 years that kid is going to be a monster.
