I get this idea of matching any kind of medium contract, but I think this is mostly a mistake when teams do this "just to not lose an asset". Players are rarely assets when signing top of market free agency deals unless they are a star or have an unexpected jump. He might have said jump somewhere else, but it feels so unlikely in GS. I'd move on one way or the other, even if it means Brooklyn signs him and you just don't match.
Yeah I mean the only reason I would match is to keep the salary slot for a trade, and a TPE functionally does the same thing.
The thing about matching an offer is that the player can veto a trade for a full calendar year.
