Both are very good 2-way players...Bane is the superior proven 3pt shooter, but Suggs shot 39.7% last season on high volume and is the superior defender. Will the shooting progress or was it an outlier? He's only 23, Bane is 26. Both are 6'5 and have football bodies. Bane's biceps are bigger - which is handy, I guess.

In a vacuum, I'd have to say Bane is the better player today, but that salary disparity is going to be pretty significant year after year and I see more playmaking developing (Bane is a very good playmaker) with Suggs and, again, he's the better defender - to the point of being a guy you have to game plan for on that end as he's so aggressively disruptive, not just a stopper, but a guy that creates problems proactively.

Both are really good two way players, but Bane's contract is the killer for me. He's an elite role player and flirting with superstar player salary.
You keep referring to Suggs as a 3&D guy, is that because that's what you want him to be? Because he's been comfortably below average as a 3pt shooter for 3 out of 4 years, on a healthy volume, that he isn't bringing the 3 part of that equation. He does a lot of other stuff really well and he's a good basketball player. But 3 point shooting isn't it. At this point last yr looks like the outlier, similar to the 1 hot year from jaden mcdaniels right before he got paid too.

Say what you want, Suggs has "it"...you feel his energy whenever he's on the court, on either end. He's one of the most impactful players I've ever seen. He'll keep shooting...he's the heart of the team and his absence is a huge issue right now. They weren't going to beat BOS with Suggs, but it'd be more interesting. He gets better every year...my ONLY fear is that his style of play might lead to chronic injury issues (for him and whoever he's guarding).

Yeah thats great but he still leaves a lot to be desired as a 3pt shooter. I even said he does a lot of stuff really well and hes a good player. I like him a lot, ive seen him play since he was in high school.

To be honest i think that label of 3&d kinda undersells both of these guys as they are both more impactful than what some people might think of as those types of 3&d roles. But it is just weird calling both suggs and bane 3&d guys like they are the same or similar. At this point Suggs hasn't shown anywhere near the same levels of outside shooting.

I could see a deal around Simons and 10 for Suggs and 20.

Suggs injury history has to be a significant factor in his value but I think Suggs for Simons makes a ton of sense for both teams. Simons is a very good shot creator and shooter and can get very hot when he's on. However, he's a horrible defender... But he gives Orlando that shot creation, playmaking and shooting they need. Simons is obviously from Orlando and it just seems perfect, plus the 10th pick and they keep their 16th pick to grab Fleming for more shooting, length and defense.

Portland was a top 5 defense the second half of the season and have really leaned into defense as their identity so pairing him with Camara and Thybulle makes them one of the best perimeter defenses in the league especially with Clingan protecting the paint. Portland takes Clifford, Clayton, or Lendeborg at 20 to add more all around depth and get them at 20 instead of reaching at 10. I like Sharpe but I would rather have him as a scorer off the bench where he flourished in that role.

KCP
Franz
Paolo

Scoot
Suggs
Camara
Deni

Bane I think is paid fairly, but I wouldn't want to be paying him a 30% or 35% max contract. 25% is fine imo.
