If he was willing to play center for Toronto and agrees to a extension I would easily give up Toronto's pick outside top #2 plus Poeltl (very good mentor for Eddy) plus a 2027 unprotected pick and 2026 swap as starters. Basically anything outside Barnes could go
JJJ makes sense for a lot of teams

4 firsts? I’m not giving 4 for him. Go look at John Collins vs Jaren head to head and tell me the difference between the two players is 4 picks. Jaren’s defense is not worth 4 picks.
Plus this locks Utah into having a two man big situation in Kessler and Jaren which would be amazing on defense and horrendous on offense. Absolutely no spacing. Unless Utah is sending out Kessler this makes no sense to me.
Have you ever seen JJJ play?

Yes. And he is a great player. But in this new CBA I am not giving up four firsts for any player outside of a bonafide superstar. JJJ is not that guy and if he was they would be a better team.
Obviously which picks matters, but 4 is unreasonable for him IMO. With the new CBA we are not going to see players like JJJ get four picks…again…IMO.
Maybe if Utah was a team on the cusp with a ton of picks. But Utah trading four picks for JJJ just means we have a good enough team for the playin or 4-5 seed in the west at best and we’re back to a middle of the road team with nothing but our own picks which will continue to be 9-14. Rather see Utah tank for 2-4 more seasons and then trade picks for a JJJ type player. It’s just too soon for Utah.
Cleveland is a good example of when to give up 4 picks for a player. They traded for Donovan right at the right time. Utah isn’t close to that yet.

Understandable but we not trading him for less than premium assets. Personally I have no interest in trading him.

I wouldn’t trade him either.
I think we’ll see them trade Ja away. He’s a great player but with the off court issues it would seem from an outside perspective he is the easiest to trade if they decide to retool/break up this core.
I could see Ja being traded for a high pick in this draft or maybe Memphis goes for some unprotected picks in next years draft or a combination of both.
A team like Utah is kind of the perfect example of a deal that could be made. Say Utah drops in the lottery to #4 or #5. Utah then trades some combination of players and that pick for a star level player. This offseason we could see Giannis, Ja, Zion, Durant and maybe a couple more big name players moved.
Personally for Utah I would trade for Zion if it meant we could keep Lauri and Kessler. Those three would be a good Sf-C combination. Still think Utah is one season away from a move like this since they need to tank next year….but who knows what they will do if they drop to 4-5 in the draft. And I think Zion is the easiest player to keep the tank going next year. Utah can give him every other game off (or more) to rehab and get in shape. But maybe Ainge thinks Ja is the answer since Utah doesn’t have a clear PG right now. Keyonte is a 6th man and Collier still has not proven he can shoot and would probably be better if he could get a year or two as a backup PG to get playing time and confidence. Anyways…that’s my 2 cents.
